    Thank you for the advice.

    Did you strop with a linen first or just the leather?

    I think I did the linen to make sure the edge was clean. Just a handful of passes. Although, to be honest I didn't commit that part to memory. In a couple cases I did a short set on my finest stone and went straight to the pasted strop, but I know I haven't done that every time. It doesn't make a lot of difference to the end result for me. The key seems to be finishing on the pasted strop, first with the crox, then with the iron oxide, and doing a ton of laps. If I understand the science of what it accomplishes correctly, it essentially makes like doing a low speed, carefully applied buff of the edge to polish it to perfection. The balsa strop just ensures it being a flat edge, rather than a pasted hanging strop that could have deviation from flat.

    What I do know is that I'm only very low on the honing skill level, but I can get a very nice, smooth edge by finishing there.

    M.K. 32, cream and AS were AdP and a Keyhole 4 did the lathering honors. Stupendous shave.

    A good shave today. Early morning walk with the dog. Came home, wrapped my face with a hot towel. Letting pre balm set a little while stropping this E.A. Clauberg Tonsorial GEM. She's 5/8" with a heavier blade. It was my first with it so, didn't know what to expect. Well, she's a shaver. Close, smooth shave. I'm a little impressed with this one.

    A side not;

    For an after shave skin cleaning with the added benefit of soothing your skin, rinse with cold water. Dry and wipe your face with Witch Hazel on a cotton ball.

    Thank you @lottenhem - The scales are tortoise Kirinite, a plastic. Alfredo Gil, aka Doc226 made them for me. This material is quite good looking. Jamie Mahoney (Celticcrusader) also did a M.K. 32 in this material. If you don’t have real turtle on hand, this is the best substitute that I have found.

    Oh, and I ‘cheated’ a little with the image, there is a piece of aluminum foil between the scales to reflect light back through the scale! This works with real turtle also.

    I think this razor is Luckhaus & Günther so I call it that way.

    I had a very nice shave with this razor. Three days of growth gone in two passes.

    @Steve56 - I made one set of scales out of that stuff then put it away. I haven't found it since.
