Today’s shave was a test of a 6/8 Iberia honed for my friend David. Stellar shave, afterwards I touched up the edge so he would have a fresh start. Soap and balm were ABC and the brush a Keyhole 4.

Friday morning shave, CVH MK No.24 Stainless. I am a little bit ambivalent towards the 24 model. Sometimes it performs very well sometimes not that spectacular. Today it performed very well.

Local razor found at resale shop. Initials etched into the scale of J Hoffman, pretty sure. Honorary shave to Hoffman!
    Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
    Synthetic Brush
    Mentholated Witch hazel
Smoooooth! Just need to work on the toe and heel a bit otherwise usable.

I had the C H Guerre out so might as well give it a go. Incredibly light razor. Soap and balm were Stirling Tangerine, and a Simpson’s 57 did the lathering.

And a nice 6/8+ Brookes and Crookes arrived today too. Pretty close to pristine - there’s some oil on the blade, that’s not tarnish or pitting.

Mostly the heel and the toe is the tricky part to get right. I don’t go further in higher grits with the honing before I have the whole edge sharp. A trick is to test on a cherry tomato if the edge is sharp enough. This one I started with 3K, then 5K, 10K and finally JNAT.

It’s good to hear that you like the ERN Hand, they have a very good reputation.

Today was a fun shave, a ‘twofer’. I was testing Matt Griffith’s edge on the newly arrived 6/8 Brookes and Crookes, and I had honed the user grade Filly 14 expressley to test the newly arrived vintage blue Pierre La Lune edge on my chin. The modern purple ones are great, but the edges have been a bit aggressive to me, and that ‘bitey’ edge manifested itself as red dots and tiny nicks on my chin.

Success! The vintage ‘extra fine’ blue moon edge was sharp, smooth, and my chin is happy. Matt’s edge was very good too, and I can see why the newer folks like his edges. He uses either a JNat or a Vermont green slate to finish, and I do not know which stone he used for the Brookes and Crookes edge.

The soap was vintage Yardley lathered with a Simpsons Keyhole 3, and the AS splash was Santa Maria Novella.

    I would agree.

Love that ERN! Looks like that big blade was a nice addition to your collection. :eatdrink047:

Newly Acquired, Restored, and Honed. A wonderful 2 pass shave, that was very smooth, even ATG. This is a very well made, and extremely thin blade. Zero issues.

    Razor- Genco "Easy Aces"
Brush- Custom @oscar11 , with a synthetic knot
Soap- More For You. It is like ARKO, but even better. From Turkey
    Aftershave- Arctic Blue.

Beautiful Genco Scott. I just missed one… got greedy - should have went with the $25 BIN. :)

    Klas Tornblom 558R
    Brush: RR 400
Suds: RR “ What The Puck?!” Lime Burst
    Splash: Proraso Green

Spent a week traveling and learning the Irving Barber Company (IBC) shavette. Fun change of pace, but nice to sharpen an edge again…Love the look of the extended thumbnotch on this Tornblom.

I bought the set of RR WTP soaps when they first came out and gave them away to some friends. Got a set back in a soap lot… these are really good. Reminds me of the older Fine soaps.
