Sad about the blade on that one as the scales are wonderful!

DSCF3556.JPG I honed all three of these yesterday so I thought I would try them all out on todays shave
top - Schulze NOS petite, sharp, deadly
middle - Hess 99 that I slightly muted the point on because it was biting me like a pitbull
bottom - Clauss NOS petite and also deadly but so smooth & sharp
    They all shaved very nicely

Decent shave this morning but could have been better. The edge wasn't quite where it needed to be. Have a good one.

That Suzu is one interesting razor, Robert. Is that blade a frame back-type insert or just the style of the spine?

I only have shaved behind it once so far but first impressions are that is has a lot less draw than my Tony Miller fast bridle or my SRD strop. I would say it was like going from the 8K stone to a 12k or 20k. It really fine polished the blade. The linen strop that comes with it is also an improvement. so I used this sequence today
    1) Tony Miller white linen ( I consider this one aggressive) 40 stops, SRD brown linen ( I consider this one a little less aggressive)40 strops, Westholme soft linen ( this is one fine piece of linen) 60 strops,Tony Miller fast bridle leather 60 strops, Westholme Horween shell cordovan 60 strops. I used the Revisor because I know exactly how it shaved the last time I used it. The shave was smoother for sure. I would say it made about as much difference as when I started to use the Strata after the 12K. Of course this is all my opinion so ???? Ya know some of us SR shavers are out there and I am no exception.

Can someone explain to me why kangaroo makes such a preferred strop?

It's a true frameback. The blade is fixed to the spine. It's not a faux frameback, but it's not the type that releases the blade to add another.

Kangaroo is thin, smooth, strong and has a fast draw. When you cut it with your blade on the edge of the strop though, you've cut through the whole thickness of the strop.

Ok not for me then...I am in need of a Kevlar strop...on the other hand I have learned to repair my strops after cutting them.

Steve, the scales on that one are wonderful. Do you have any plans to transplant them to a better blade?
