What is the difference noticeable between a Friodur non-Inox vs a Friodur Inox? Chromium content (Inox -minimum 10.5%)?
As best I understand it, in simple laymen's terms, the Friodur steel is cryo-treated 440c stainless, and the Inox must then have higher chromium content—which is nice, but what does this mean in real world (non-marketing) terms as far as the end-user is concerned? Higher chromium content does mean greater resistance to corrosion, so there is THAT.
    Just curious…..

I don't know the answer to that kevin. Maybe someone else does. All I know for sure is that all my Henckels hone up beautifully but the Inox just seems to take a slightly smoother edge. My brother and my son also spent 40+ years working in a steel mill that made stainless exclusively. Joslyn Stainless Steel was the name and they were in Ft Wayne Indiana. Later on they were purchased by a Canadian company named Slater Steel. I will call one of them and find out what he has to say

Supposedly, the edge takes a bit longer to hone and the edge lasts longer with stainless.

IMO and that sometimes is not worth a lot - my inox razors hone up easily and the same as Carbon Steel

    I hauled two straights yesterday.
I cleaned one of them up. it's not pristine, yet. it wasn't even sharp. but I scrubbed it up, honed it on my barber's hone, stropped on my bench strop.
this morning I started to check my work with a cheek stroke. but it felt so nice, I did a full pass. then continued to my planned shave. it was so nice, I did the final pass with the newby.
the new guy is a Clauss. it measures 3/4 in. it has a round end, and appears to be full hollow.
I like the weight, size, and shape of this blade.
while researching the name,I read that it was issued to boot marines in ww1. if y'all know if that's true, I'd like to know.
this one's not pretty now. but one day it'll shine.

Yes, the Marine Corp did issue Clauss razors to the soldiers in WWII - all of them I have seen have been stamped U S M C on the tang or etched in the blade. Here is mine. Not a great picture but you get the point. Clauss razors can be made to shave nicely. I have a special interest in Clauss razors because they were made in Fremont Ohion close to my families farm homstead
