C.V.H No 130 testing out the new stone, and the edge is good. IME diamond plate slurry on a freshly lapped JNat never gives up an edge as good as a good tomo slurry on a burnished stone, so I’m thinking this rock is superb - I’ll be refinishing the edge later today. Soap was PdP lathered with a SOC boar and a splash of Harris Pink finished up.

Now before anyone thinks that I can refinish a wooden stand in a day, the shiny stand in the SOTD image is not the one that it came on, that one is cleaned of glue and stone bits and ready for the belt sander, but I use my belt sander outside and it’s raining today. Anyway, the second image shows both stands and the back of the stone. The refinished stand is a little smaller and is intended for a 60-cut (190 x 70mm) I think, which this stone is, more or less. The stand that it came on will fit a full bench stone, so when it is refinished I’ll have to decide which one to use, if any. The darned thing is so tall that a stand is not really an asset.

Back to the Tuckmar :happy088: I’ve been on the road so my choices have been limited to this, the CVH MK 32 and the Wosty Pipe - a real first world problem :)

I was able to build a “stupid sharp” edge as Glen (@gssixgun) would say! It was a great shave! I just really like these small, agile straights! Great tools for trimming around my Goatee.

Shave #4, and last one. I had a very nice and smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. It was very smooth on the ATG pass. That's a good thing. This old wedge does work well. Its edge hasn't degraded, as far as I can tell. Zero issues, just a very stiff blade. I still prefer a good quality Extra Hollow grind to a Wedge grind.

    Razor- Manhattan Cutlery Co. Sheffield.
    Brush- @oscar11 Special. Synthetic knot.
    Soap- TOBS Coconut.
    Aftershave- Florida Water

Great photo, Scott! I prefer hollow grinds as well, a good Manhattan Cutlery blade also does the job well.

Gauthier rattler, from Pont St Esprit. Pre-shave and shaving cream were SMN and a Semogue Galahad did the lathering. A little woody L’OP Cade balm finished up.

    Thank you Hans, me too!

Filarmonica 14 with a refreshed edge off the new stone, and a very good shave it was. Soap was SdM lathered with a SOC Finest, and a bit of ABC finished up.
