Le Grelot Merle Blanc, soap was MdC Vetyver for MdC Monday, lathered with a Duke 3 copy in 2-band by @life2short1971 . SMN Herbal Water finished up. This Herbal Water is a pretty good match for the vetyver scent.

A rescue razor, that needs constant monitoring, and periodical buffing of the scales, because of cell rot. It's been a while since I polished it up and used it. I had a very nice 2 pass shave, that left me BBS.

    Razor- Otto Deutsch's Hans
Brush- @oscar11 Special, with a synthetic knot.
    Soap- ARKO
    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy

I agree Scott, those green scales are beautiful. Nitrocellulose was and is, arguably the most beautiful plastic material ever made for pens, razors, guitars, etc. That’s probably why ypu can still buy it, Rothko and Frost have a good selection.

Why would razor makers use a ‘time bomb’ material for scales? I’ve wondered this. Either one, at the time (Pre-WW2), the effect wasn’t known or more likely not appreciated, or two, all razor blades are consumable and they never thought that the blades would be around long enough for the scale material to be a problem. And probably most that were made are not around.

I think Billy has a NOS example.

Tortoise nitrocellulose was probably the next worse example for deterioration after the Otto Deutsch green scales, and the modern acrylic Kirinite is a good replacement.

6/8 Le Grelot 355 in tortoise Kirinite by Alfredo, software was AdP and the brush an AP Shave Co synthetic.

A wonderful shave, from a French market Puma razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, w/o touch-ups. One small nick, from a now disappeared bump. Excellent razor.

Razor- Puma 6/8th full hollow. "Pour Barbe Tres Dure"(For Very Hard Beard)
    Brush- @oscar11 Special. Synthetic knot.
    Soap- ARKO.
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Willys Jeep Decanter.

Yep, I've gone from beard to goatee to cleanshaven and back again. I have used single and double edged razors and even 5 bladed ones. I like to occasionally use one of my straights. The Starlet is Japanese and shaves like a near wedge.

Wunderbar! I’m always delighted when my refresh on the stones works so well. The Otto Busch was dramatically better and a very fine shave :happy093:

User grade Filly 14 Doble Temple (testing the stone), pre-shave was Barba Sana ‘Marvelous’ cream, soap was Barba Sana Molto Intenso lathered by a Keyhole 4, and a splash of Agua Balsamica finished up.

The Barba Sana products are by Furbo and a new offering at Bullgoose. The Marvelous cream is excellent, with a strong hit of camphor, eucalyptus, and menthol that persists in feel and scent a little after the shave, but dissipates pretty rapidly afterwards. If you like Proraso green, I suspect that you’ll like Marvelous cream. Tile floor Caution: the jar appears to be glass. The soap is truly top notch in performance, nothing whatsoever to be desired, it checks all the boxes at ‘10’. The scent is strong as you might expect from Molto Intensa, and is a standard woody cologne like PdP 63, so if you like PdP 63, I suspect that you’ll like MI.
