I had to really work on the edge when I bought this razor from Fendrihan years ago. It had a shaving edge but just not keen enough. This is my only stainless steel straight and it took a lot more work to get the edge good enough. I am having problems with it again. Last night, I did a Lynn Abrams Pyramid Honing with 8K and 12K synthetic hones and followed up with 20K and diamond paste, linen strop and leather strop. I am still not satisfied and thinking I might play with my coticle and Japanese stone or go back to setting bevel. Frustrated.

I watched 4 honing with coticule YouTube videos by DrMatt357 to try to get this edge back in shape. I started with 5K Naniwa stone using circles and X's and trailing strokes and then did circles and X's on the coticule until the blade felt like it was sticking and tried cutting arm hair. It seemed okay, just not super, but I figured that was a coticule edge, softer. I did lots of stropping on a Fine Stars suede strop and a linen strop followed by 100 on leather. Still, no joy. I had made it worse. I will try lapping film next before I give up and have someone else help.

Quite pretty in full sunlight. It's a pity I don't shave outdoors.

This is about as good as it gets indoors.

Circles will take a coticule edge backwards. Have you tried honing on the BBW? That will make the edge a bit more 'crispy.'

    What a fine shave :D

This W&B is a razor I always look forward to using and it was super smooth and efficient. And the soap was a blast. Shout out to @Yehuda D who is always doing a methol bomb of some type or another and I finally had to see what it was like. The MSC is a great soap overall, it’s now up there with my favorites. I love lavender but the scent was minimal. However, the methol was something else. I have nothing to compare it to but when first lathering it on it felt so cold it practically burned. Really nice after effect as well. :happy036:

    Hot water preparation
    Argan Oil PSO
    MSC Frosted Lavender

    Cold Water Rinse
    Palmolive Shave Cream

    J.A. Henckels 5/8

The Palmolive Shave Cream lathered well with the Jayaruh #439 Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the J.A. Henckels 5/8 straight gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Florida Water. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
