My tip is that if the razor cuts easily in a tomato that’s the trick before going to higher grits.

Okay here is what I have found on these and several of the newer TI's
They don't actually respond well to Natural stones, I had limited success using a Nakayama after passing the 10k level....

I head straight to the Naniwa SS Series on them, using a misty slurry all the way through the 12k, this eliminates the Sparkles that they tend to get..
Once you figure out a combination that works on them they are incredible shavers and worth the effort to get there..
If the SS 12k edge is bitey for your skin, soften it with stropping on high quality CrOx I use a .30 Micron 99.99% pure that doesn't add keeness .. The slurry technique should make it more comfortable anyway since you probably adding convexity to the bevel (Theory)

Thanks for the information. Next time I will do that. Do you make a slurry with a JNAT or Belgian coticule slurry making stone? I have shaved with this razor for years (not daily though) with no need for touch up, so it really held a great shaving edge for a long time after the initial "touchup" years ago when I bought it.

I tried touchups on another razor using Cr Ox from an old bottle from SRD. I don't know how great the application was. I didn't get Cr Ox dust on the razor after stropping the Cr Ox. Do you have suggestions of what paste or whatever to use or would lapping film work just as well?

Yes I used a Kita Nagura on the Nakayama which is my goto for harder Japanese steel.. I am a firm believer in finding "Magic in the Mud" I lean toward using a slurry most of the time

I don't think a Coticule would be a good match for these razors..

I scored this CrOx 15 years ago, I have more than enough for several lifetimes fire me a PM I will give you a packet..

Friday morning shave, SSA 5/8”. Smooth as a peach . Interesting about SSA that they never seemed to mark the razors with a number or name, just the Company logotype.

It was a 2 blade shave today, with 3 days of growth.. I honed two of @lindyhopper66 's blades, and test drove them after. Both delivered silky smooth 2 pass shaves, WTG and ATG, with completely different feels. The ATG on both was just as smooth as the WTG pass. The Thiers-Issard is a thick grind, with an almost Wedge feel to it, and Friodur is a Full Hollow. Typically, I prefer the Full to extra hollow feels, but the Thiers-Issard was more enjoyable. Go Figure. End result was a BBS face, with minor touch-ups. Zero issues. Pardon the picture. The dark sections are just shadows.

Razors- Thiers Issard. Made in France
J.A.Henkels "Friodur Inox No Stain". Solingen Germany.
    Brush- @oscar11 Special. Synthetic knot
    Soap- ARKO- always works well.
    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy
