Fortunately, I love Sheffields so more supply for people like me :)

…and I know of a good home for them if they start to bug you too much :D

It’s 20mm not counting the spine. Don’t ask me how, story for another day, but I now have a second MK 31 and it measures 19mm.

    Saturday Straights' Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    HC&C GunSinger Shave Soap
    SlimGem Synthetic
    J.R. Torrey
    CWR
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Aqua Velva Iced Blue AS

The HC&C GunSinger Shave Soap lathered well with SlimGem Synthetic brush. Two passes and touch ups with the J.R. Torrey straight gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Dickinson's Witch Hazel and then Aqua Velva Iced Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

The kenwa symmetrical kamisori was the blade of choice for this fine saturday morning shave!! This thing is like a katana I swear, freaking love this blade! The yaqi sagrada and house of mammoth tobacconist tied it all together!

It took three and half years to find me but today is day four of isolation with a mild Covid case so four days of stubble to remove. Two razors today:

The MK 31 was part of a lot I won that had a different razor that I wanted. I’ve thought about keeping it but I already have one so I’ll be selling it. I shaved the first pass of half of my face with it to test it. Good edge, no tugs, no cuts or nicks, even around the chin and lips. PM if you are interested.

The Leader is always a solid shave and it is what did the lion’s share of the work. All clean and smooth and ready for, oh yeah, more isolation :pri:

    Romera Wenge Chubby Manchurian Badger
    CV Heljestrand MK 31 19/32

I have no idea how I got those measurements. They are actually 16mm for the one I’ve had for a while and maybe a hair over 15mm for the restored one I picked up in a lot.

Here is the question about imperial inches versus Swedish inches..
    1 imperial inch=25,4mm
    1 Swedish inch =24,74mm
So it’s not 11/16” and I guess that it’s probably grinded a couple of times or CVH didn’t care so much about the measurements??
The Swedish inches was officially used until 1889 when the metric system was fully implemented. However inches was used for a long time after that.

You could be right Hans - at home I have a nice graphic that lets you lay your blade with the spine on a reference line and it shows you the actual measurement at the edge. However, I’m not at home and I’m reduced to a flimsy sewing tape to try to measure. Once I’m home again, or can find the chart online, I’ll remeasure :happy088:

EDIT: I’ve searched and can’t find the chart online. If someone has a copy, please post it or PM me - thanks!
