    image.jpg Razor: Dubl Duck Special #1 9/16 Squire point 1947-52
    Gillette Slim (k3) 1965
    Brush: Erskine Badger 1947 Birth Year
    Mug: Old Spice 1985 Cobalt Blue
    Soap/Cream: Pre de Provence Shea Butter soap
    Blade: Feather (1)
    Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Jack Black Post Shave Gel, Vintage Avon 1981 California Perfume Co. Anniversary Bay Rum

    Face lathered the PdP with the Badger, after hydrating my face real well, going for extra slickness. Nice lather. It's been a few days not using a straight, so going to start slow. Getting better and a little closer. Working on getting under my upper lip, and I'm getting better. Left side of my neck is a breeze with my left hand but my right side is going slow. Relathered and went for a second pass being careful, and changing the angle. I finished with my Slim and only needed 1 pass. Still working all the angles, but getting better. Nice cucumber smell with the WH, and then some soothing JB Gel. After cleanup some Bay Rum. Y'all have a good one.

    ( Same as 30-day focus)

    Razor= Dovo astrale 6/8 round
    Soap= Lea
    Brush= VDH Boar
    Alum = Osama/ to aid in skin stretching
    AS = Himalayan Bay rum
    Aloe = banana boat
    ASB = dove

    I am getting to know this shaver a bit better.less irritation at the end of shave. The razor is feeling good in the hand.

    I am becoming aware that this blade's edge is holding up quite nice. I do believe the rumor about Dovo's factory honing isn't worth a tinker's damn per Glen's infamous knowledge.

    A very nice clean dfs/bbs after DE clean up (neck and under jawline). I rather enjoyed this shave.

    I am really liking this Lea shave soap...
    my face really turns out soft,and happy happy.

    Yes, most of the time, when you buy a new Dovo, the vendor touches up the factory honing, before it gets sent to you. The vintage models came out of the factories with a terrific edge, without any further ado. I have a few of those, along with vintage ERN's and Bartmann NOS razors with excellent edges that I've yet to touch up.

    I don't know about any rumor but from experience I never received a Dovo from any vendor that would shave until I re honed it. That being said - I feel the same way about any new razor unless it was honed by a pro before being shipped. All the new or NOS razors I have bought ( over 50) have a good bevel and that's about it

    I've never bought a new Dovo, to know about their factory edges. Straightrazordesigns hones their Dovos, as well as Thesuperiorshave and their's should be ready to shave. My new Thiers-Issard from Fendrihan needed honing.

    tuckmar1.jpg tuckmar2.jpg.jpg Todays shave

    I had two razors that I got on ebay that just did not pop when I honed them. One( the Tuckmar) would shave very well but it just was not where I wanted it. The other ( an Otto Stenen) just did not work for me at all. I re honed both of these twice and gave up and sent them off to Jamie Mahoney because we had other things going on and these both neede. both of these razors were used today. They blew me away
    Otto Steinen - I just love these smaller in width razors when they are honed properly and he knocked this one completely out of the park
    Tuckmar - I honestly did not think anyone could improve on this one but he certainly did.
    Soap - Le Pere Lucien Fourgere mixed with DR Harris Windsor crème for the absolute best ubelather ( any lather) that I have ever made - Just freakin incredible.
    AS - Floid Blue - one of my all time favorites but I do love all the Floids
    The photos are of before clean up and I will post after clean up soon
