It's that time of year again, and after the resounding success of last years "Seven Days of Ugly, Cheap Razors That Shave Really, Really Well" I've decided this years theme for my seven day binge will be "Extremely Old Sheffield Wedges That Shave Really, Really Well". First up for Day One, a Greaves & Sons stub tail from between 1816-1823. The "& Sons was added in 1816 and by 1823 they had made the move to and were stamping "Sheaf Works". A super smooth shaver.

Just like you Mike I search high and low for many years trying to find a NOS King Pelican then one just popped up out of the blue and the rest his history, it's a sweet shaver just like pea's in a pod those vintage Japanese full hollow 13/16 blades.

    7/27/15 - 12th Straight Shave!!
    H. Boker King Cutter

Best shave so far. Not because there is not irritation or a little blood. It was. But because learned a lot on what angle to use and how to hold my hand to get a close shave on some places.
Actually got a BBS. But it was me going over places 3 or 4 times just to see the best way to get at the hairs.
    The irritation isn't bad though.

I have hairs on my jaw line that grow straight back toward my ear. With a DE I've never had a problem getting them. But with a SR, it's been hard to get it smooth. They are coarse and I have to stretch my skin even with a DE to cut them.

Found a way today. If I'm shaving my left jaw line , I held my razor in my right hand and went over my head like I'm going to stretch the skin up. I was able to stretch the skin with my left hand and get a good angle with my right. Bam!!

Also worked on my chin by holding the blade with both hands on the ATG pass and figuring out how to hold my face to get my skin stretched. The point did get me once....life lesson. Haha.

I believe the learning curve for straight shaving to resemble stair steps...unchanging periods of "status quo" combined with vertical spikes of "eureka moments"...
