ERN Crown & Sword 13/16 orig scales but blade cleaned up nicely. This one did not shave as well as I like so I re honed it for today ( just back to 8K snow white, Nan 12K & Strata) it wowed me today
Soap - Le Pere Lucien Lavender Vegetable base, mixed it with DR Harris lavender crème for a nice but really Lavender ubelather. I love LPL but don't like the vege based ones by themselves.
Clubman Pinaud original - don't use this one a lot but when I do I always wonder why not so today I ordered the Aspen and the Lime Sec lol. $9.95 for 12.5 oz why not

Actually fellows after unsuccessfully drinking myself to death for many years, as of Feb. 5 2013, I no longer truck with Old John Barleycorn. Sad really, I did appreciate a good Islay...it was when my drinking turned into straight vodka from the bottle as I was getting out of bed in the morning, which lead to pancreatitis and a liver that functioned at about 10% that I finally took a physician friends advice to heart. When a good friend tells you "your next drink could literally kill you", you begin to contemplate just how much you'd prefer to live. But I sure did appreciate a good Islay...

Thank You all Friends for the kind words and wishes. I can say with all honesty that I haven't experienced the slightest urge to have so much as a whiff since about 3 days after I quit. Including times of significant stress that previously would have sent me running for the nearest ethanol. Simply flipped the brain switch to the "Off/No Booze" position.

Now if I could do the same thing with cheeseburgers...

I loved my bourbon and seven and similar circumstances happened to me. On the way to liver disease I reluctantly agreed to listen to my doctor. Good job Mike. I know the struggle.

My maiden voyage using this Japanese western-Style razor on loan from Mike @entropy1049 .
This razor feels very nice in the hand; pins are tight, tang is slim with subtle lower jimps, and the thin, broad blade has a comfortably-rounded square tip. It also provides good audible feedback (no surprise there as it is a wide, full-hollow grind). Easy to manipulate/navigate this razor as it's slim shape is designed for efficiency and well-balanced. The blade 'feel' reminds me very much of my 3/4" Red Imp—which is say quite smooth and noisy. I prefer, however, the soft square point on this razor versus the deadly spike on the Imp. Twenty light laps on the red latigo. Three passes plus some touch-up areas resulted in a near BBS shave. I can see already this is going to be an enjoyable seven-day ride!

Lots of great old razors out there on the cheap, just keep your eyes open and wait for the good deals! If you have questions, ask! And we're not too snobbish in this great thread, the important thing is to get a good solid razor (many on eBay for less than $20) and jump in with both feet! Trust us, the water is fine!
