My first shave using this custom Rodgers after having Mike (@entropy1049) put it to his honing skills. This razor has always presented a challenge for me due to it's unusual shape, spine thickness and curve contours. So Mike had a go at it (Bevel set 1K and honed 3K>8K>12K. Finished on the Suehiro Gokumyo 20K. 20 laps on Kanayama suede and 50 on Kanayama shell). Despite the odd geometry near the heel, Mike was able to put a superbly-keen edge on this fine razor. End result? A very smooth, silent shave with this qtr-hollow blade. Three passes + touch-up = a near BBS experience with no irritation or tenderness! A joy to get this sentimental favorite back into the regular line up! Thanks, Mike! :)

Let me just say that photos don't do this Old Girl justice. Kevin did a truly outstanding restoration on this beauty, some of the best work I've ever seen. The CA finish must be seen in person to be appreciated. :happy096:

Also, Kevin is being charitable, I think. I'm not convinced I did the edge any good, but it was a fun challenge trying!:kngt:

Recycling a picture today, but it's the gear I used, so why waste...whatever I'd be waisting if I took a new picture :)

Even though I haven't used the brush or the soap much (yet), I'm a fan of both other than the name of the soap "Love". My head is just not into love at 5:30 A.M. I'm in more like Attila the Hun frame of mind at that time of the day. Very nice shaves the last couple of days. Have a good one.

Frame Back Friday: This was my first shave using this vintage Swiss-made razor made by Jacque Lecoultre (SR-maker from 1830-1919).
Solidly-made, this old razor with hardened "everlasting English Steel" takes a keen edge and is amazingly nimble.

Regrettably, my drawbacks often exceed my frame backs… :D
    I think I have about a half-dozen FBs, Mitch.

Got a little overconfident today on my S/N pass, and set the razor down a little hard on the base of my neck. Felt the sting, then the blood started. Cut-throat shaving indeed. Other than that, it was a good shave. Only did two passes, and got a DFS. Face and jawline are BBS.

My shave was on the harsh side today but extremely close. I'll take the credit for the harshness because I altered my preshave with both my face and the razor. Ohio walnut for the brush handle, I picked up a hunk when I visited my daughter on vacation. Have a good one.
