For the Monday a Fr. Herder A.s. 29, 17/16 clad in ebony
Makes the same noise shaving as a Filarmonica 8/8

Vintage 'The Celebrated IXL' from the Sheffield Shop of George Wostenholm & Son; circa 1870. A near-wedge blade that is truly a pleasure to use. Original black horn scales and hardware. Not bad for a nearly-150 year old razor! :happy088:

Thanks, Mike! I was attracted by the look (like moths to a flame :D) and the old shaver turned out to be a fantastic razor, one that'll probably be a permanent fixture in the rotation... if there is such a thing… :D

Yesterday I shave tested my unmarked mystery straight. I used Kiss My Face unscented lathered with a 20mm WD synthetic.

I only honed it to a 6k since my Arkie still isn't flat. I stroped on pasted balsa 50 laps croox and 50 FeOx then 100 each rough side and then smooth side on the leather. It was better then it was but I'm convinced that I need an 8k and either a 10k or 12k to get to where I think a shave ready edge would be. I completed one pass then finished with a FatBoy GSB combo. Today I'll attempt the same with my French Faux frameback.

This razor was pawned in 1984 for $15 the receipt was in the coffin. I think I paid $20 for it. It's pretty minty and a good shaver. Have a good one.

This morning's shave was a great pleasure and a time to unwind from a busy weekend.
Started off by washing my face with Dial Gold soap.
Soaked brush in hot tap water and stropped SR on my handmade 2 1/2 inch latigo strop with webbing.. 20x each
Brush: Simpson special S1 best badger brush
    Lather: Proraso Green
Razor: Dubl Duck Goldedge SR round tip

Nice warm face lathering, and a single pass wtg sent 2 days growth down the drain. Finished atg with. my Mühle R89 DE with Wilkinson sword Blades on my neck and am nick free. Rinsed face and put the finishing touches on via clubman original splash. Life is good. Enjoy gents.
