    today's shave was a confidence builder for me.
    this was one of my first straight razors. I used it until the edge became graby and jumpy, dull in other words.
    it went to the hones yesterday. today it provided a very nice smooth comfy three pass shave.
    I feel like I got this one right, insert happy dance here.

    My Hinkels Twin comes today. I don't know what kind of shape the edge is in. It probably needs honing, I will send it out to a pro to make sure. Can't wait to try it!

    I had planned to send mine to Glenn.
    but the numbers grew to the place that I had to learn myself. baby steps, but progress.
    if I could have stuck with just a few,I would have preferred having a honemiester take care of the edges. but now I've got too many.

    I will get some stones and do it myself eventually, I want a baseline to know what to compare it to. Hell, I still need a strop. Had one lined up from craigslist, but the dude accidentally sold it to someone else.

    today I had the pleasure of using;
    H Boker& Co "Our Unrivaled" 5/8 extra hollow ground spike
    from the moment I had this razor in hand, it exuded quality of manufacture. the scales feel a bit heavier. the tang has a nice little curve to fit your thumb or fingers. the spine has a nice cut to it. the spike seemed shaped just right to get close to your ear. the weight of the steel even feel a bit heavy.
    it came to me with a nice bevel. I did the pyramid 25 down on 4k/8k. then a few x's on apache strata. stropped 50 laps. the edge was complete.
    the shave felt fabulous.
    such a pleasure to use this old razor.
