Today I used the Kiebitz for the first time and I can report back that it's an excellent razor! I like the weight of it and the jimps both on the top and bottom. It makes for a nice grip.

I recently picked up a used 8,000 grit hone and a Chinese natural stone. I tried honing it myself, starting on an old 1,500 grit stone to set the bevel and then moved on to the 8,000 and 12,000. Yeah, I know that's not how you do it, but I worked with what I have. Either way, this razor is shave ready. I'll likely go down the rabbit hole of stones now!

One learns to handle a huge hunk of steel with a such an amazingly sharp edge such as that Maestro, one can pretty much handle any razor, unflinchingly, that comes down the pike.
