Welcome to the SR world! Taking it slow and steady is smart and you'll reap the benefit of developing your skills while saving your face from potential irritation (or worse!). Glad you've taken the plunge!

Thanks Kevin! I started out wet shaving with my Grandfathers old Gillette TV Special, then got a chance to try a Schick injector loaned to me, now I've got up the nerve and what I need to try SR shaving thanks to Glen and Adam.

Starting with a shave-ready razor from Glen is an excellent way to learn how a proper edge on an SR should feel both on the face and to the touch. Recognizing this good edge is important when you are maintaining the level of keeness with your stropping technique. You're off to a solid start...

    Two Pass Shaving Routine..

Hot Water prep & massage with Argan Oil
    Heljestrand No 7 Sweden 5/8th ( Freshly Honed )
    Fitchard Pure Badger
    Valobra Tallow Soap
    Humphreys Witch Hazel

I had a Glorious Shave this Morning with My Freshly Honed Heljestrand 5/8th..It took me Longer to Hone this SR as it Appears to be Made of a Very Hard Steel the same as CV Heljestrand SE Hollow Ground Blades..This SR has a Killer Edge & Very Smooth & Comfortable..:)

I am Delighted with My Progress on a Lapping Film Progression System..I Can see Little Room for Improvement with the Results here as the Edge is Awesome..That Said..Consistency is Key..I Finished on 1 Micron Film & took it onto the Chromium Oxide & Red Rhodium Strop before taking it onto Leather...I Prefer this Method to Finishing on 0.5 Lapping Film as the Edge can be a Bit too Crisp..:p

I just Hope that when I move onto using My Newly Acquired Naniwa Super Stones I get the Same Results because My Lapping Film is the Dogs Danglies..The only Reason I have Invested in some Naniwa Stones is that Lapping Film in the UK is not a Cheap Long Term System..:D

    I am Dolphin Smooth & Refreshed..:kar:

Yes, but i have to email it to myself, recover it from the email, then post the resized pic. Sounds convoluted, but it is done by pressing a few buttons (five if i delete the email after saving the pic). Once I get it back, it's 70% of the one i sent. (Wonder who's been getting that other 30%)

I use an IPhone and after taking a pic I make a screen capture of it and delete the original. I then crop the photo, and upload it into my post.

Ill have to try it then. Of course a lot of you guys have impressive GQ quality shave den pics. Im not sure my phone can live up to those expectations.

Believe me, im no photographer. My previous phone took horible pics. And always posted them sideways. The pics were so poor, im suprized my ct didnt say out of focus. But i think it's a fun way to share with everyone. I like to see others pics as well, so I participate.

Getting the Big Iron dialed in. Tonight just called for a straight razor shave. The J A Henckels just seems to get better and better every time I strop it before I shave with it now that I have a good canvas strop.
    IMG_20160623_201010.jpg

Strop- Vintage broke in Certified 323 Deep Cut Diamond Russia Back Leather and Canvas.
Razor- 33 J A Henckels Solingen Zwillingswerk wedge.
Brush- NOS Made Rite L1500 Pure Badger.
Lather- Ogallala Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn Soap.
Post- OSMA alum block followed by Ogallala Genuine Bay Rum Lime and Peppercorn Aftershave.

3 pass shave with very good results. Getting better with every straight razor shave I do. Edge maintenance is a big key to good results. The learning curve is a long one but it is definitely worth the effort.
