Outrageously-beautiful razor, Jamie! I always love seeing this one in your collection. I'm guessing this razor is a definite keeper! ;):happy088:

SOTN: My first shave tonight with this restored Dorko 43 'Premier' 6/8" (see restoration HERE!) New soap and aftershave balm from Route 66 'Lavender Woods'—a fresh, woodsy masculine scent coupled with the typical top performance I've gotten from these fine products. Overall, an outstandingly smooth and comfortable shave!

    Definitely Kevin,

It's an exact clone of my Hoshitombo 8000 including the grind I took all the measurments and made a very accurate drawing and sent it along to Cedric and he produced a fantastic copy in Damascus and faux Tortoiseshell scales.

Billy where do you get the Valobra? I see it on a couple of website but it seems awfully pricey for a shave stick. :)

    Today I used
Clauss 2002 5/8 full hollow spike sporting aluminum scales.
New to me, tough to hone. Previous owner sorta left me a crappy bevel. Seemed like forever on the 1000. By the time i was reasonably happy with the rest of the process, then shave. My hand was worn out. Shave seemed sharp, but not real smooth.
Still have high hopes for the razor. My other clauss razor shave very good. I think the scales on this one are great. So a bit more work to get it on par with the others. 20160731_120324_resized(1).jpg

I believe that with this 5.2 ounce one I just now purchased I can make a shave stick and have plenty left over Billy. :happy036:

The stick was more for less Billy so I took this option. The tallow part makes no difference to me unless this one sucks which I doubt. :)

Is it really possible for a Damascus 5/8 round tip really be worth a thousand bucks? If so Why?

"Jamie" I believe to whom you're directing the question.
The price you mentioned is in the realm (often on the lower end) of most custom SRs, by the way.

People used to ask me why I've paid 5-7x the cost of basic Martin guitar for a custom-order luthier-built guitar and let me say this: there's a world of difference when a talented artisan can produce limited hand-crafted goods vs factory-made. Is it worth it? To me, it was and is.
