So 1,000.00 for a Boker Damascus shaver factory, not custom still seems outrageous!

It's only worth what people are willing to pay. I wouldn't pay over $100 for a DE razor, but that's me. Others can pay 2x or more should they desire to do so. Btw: I'm not willing to drop a grand on a Boker...

    Mitch,

What I know the steel costs more plus the work to produce a hand forged 500 layer razor is significantly more labour intensive and that's what you are paying for, Damascus steel will not shave any better than any other good quality carbon steel and it's just as easy to hone, most people will pay a little extra coin for originality and a bespoke design including me :) another thing to add you won't find another that's called exclusivity so there are several factors you need to bring in when you decide you are willing to go ahead with your commission from the Artisan of your choice, It's not like buying a razor from a retailer I myself had a lot of imput in the design of the razor it was a very pleasurable experience one I may well repeat in the future with Cedric Christ of Ali's Blades.

Here's another custom razor I own which I also had a fare amount of imput when commisioned from UK maker Michael Watherhouse.

image.jpeg C-Mon Blackie, formerly of the West Coast Blackies. Purchased from Kevin's herd thinning sale. All I can say is, if this was a cull, I'd love to have his keepers. Very nice, excellent shaver. I have a Wosty inbound from him later this week. The restoration of the Wosty can be seen here.

Great shave this morning. I am nearing the end of my Haslinger Schafmilch soap puck...maybe one more shave left if I work up the remaining lather in the bottom of the container.
