What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

[IMG]Here is what I used. My one and only functioning straight. Today was a day of many first. 3 pass shave. First time using my right hand. I did use for all 3 passes. I did get one nick using my right hand. Not having the proper angle when starting a stroke. I felt it instantly and stopped. Minor nick stopped bleeding by second pass, and I am on blood thinners. Thirdly i did not use my injector to clean up. I got a socially acceptable shave. I will need to shave tomorrow for sure.

I must say I am hyper alert when shaving with these weapons. So far so good. I might try getting 2 straights in a week. I shave at night so I am never rushed when I shave.

Shave 20. I wanted to recreate the atmosphere of my best shave to date so I put on Spotify to Backyard Barbecue and had a half of a Guiseppe Palmer cocktail at the sink. I also returned to the Otto Busch Weltmeister and had a nice shave. Good reduction, a small nick or two, and a very nice, smooth result. :happy036:

That drink sounds absolutely refreshing. I will have to get all the goodies for that. I will however save the refreshments until after my shave.

There is a sweet spot that must not be violated.

I must have hit it as the shave was worthy of a little face-rubbing now and then. :happy088:

You must be a bit more disciplined than I am. I hit that sweet spot but it is too late once I realized it.

Late entry from last night. I've been in a honing fury, trying to figure out some difficult razors. I have, now I can post last nights shave.
This razor gave me a booger of a time. It was rusted and tarnished, all over. The worst part was the scales were so bent, the blade closed on a scale 1/3 of the length of the razor, towards the toe end. I straightened the scales out, and polished the blade slightly. Then found the blade was very uneven in the way it was honed previously. It took some time top figure out, and I'm embarrassed to say, about two hours on the hone, on and off. I stropped it up and test shaved last night. Smooth as butter, Not a looker, but drives like Cadillac. I'm glad I didn't toss it into the hopeless bin.

Razor- Vintage Japanese "Cherry 92", whatever 92 means.
    Soap- Stirling Ozark Trail
    Brush- Vintage German "Ocean" boar
    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy

SOTD: Lazy Monday mid-morning shave on my day off. This old Sheffield 7/8" wedge from Marshes & Shepherd, Pond Works (1840) is a solid, heavy slab of carbon steel that takes a downright scary-sharp edge. A J-Nat finisher smooths out any harshness.

Shave 21. I shaved yesterday and the alum was relatively low key so I decided to break my pattern and shave again tonight with one day of growth. Nice reduction, another face-rubbing worthy shave, but a little more noise from the alum than yesterday - so a day off tomorrow is in order. Slowly, slowly it is coming together. :happy088:

Well, I finally figured out how to hone Japanese Framebacks. Much different than the others I've honed.. After I figured it out, the shave was one of the best I have had, with a straight. The Framebacks are very rigid, and heavy. They also take a very sharp edge(Swedish Steel). The Aftershave and soap,m brought tears to my eyes, and froze the face for about 5 minutes. Good stuff on a 97 degree day, with very high humidity.

Razors- 弥一 YAICHI 東京 Swedish Steel, Frameback
    Baby Gold Bug(Mustache Razor)
    Brush- Semogue 1800 Boar
Soap- Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic, Glacial.
Aftershave- Fines Snakebite+(Added Menthol and Glycerin)
    Bowl- Homemade(by me)

First shave with my newly refurbished Boker "Pearl". Fresh off my lapping film.

As I am a Newb to straights i did a 3 pass shave mainly N-S with some XTG where I felt comfortable trying it. I am also teaching my off hand to shave. It does not want to cooperate

As I do not have a proper strop. Ordered a @Drygulch this evening. I will hold off on further stropping with the one I made.

To truly feel confident and master it, yes, it will take time and practice. But you can still enjoy the ride before reaching the destination! :);)
