    Jim99 Gold Water Shaver

I took out the Henry Sears this morning and got a great shave.

I did about 100 laps on the c-nat stone last night with this razor as it was tugging a bit the last time I used it. Well, no problems this time.

2 passes was all it took for a smooth, close and comfortable shave!

Shave 26. Really close and a pleasant shave. I tried some new things today. I tried a little bit of scything with some strokes and managed to just avoid slicing myself. I also tried out @david of central florida technique for getting an ear to throat pass on either side of the Adam's apple. Whew, nothing like presenting your open throat to a lethal blade and not looking as a way to teach yourself a light hand! But, it largely worked and will no doubt get easier with practice. :happy088:

Tonights shave was interesting. I've dialed in my Welsh Stones, and started using Chromium Oxide on my strop. This has taken the edges to a new high. Dangerously high. I had a wonderful shave, until the large but shallow cut. Bleeder. I need to modify the shaving technique. Lighter touch needed.

Shave 27. A triple header. I started with a newly acquired J.R. Torrey. Lousy reduction on the first pass no matter what I tried. So I moved on to my other J.R. Torrey that I recently refreshed after a disappointing first shave a while ago. Not much better. So after half of a pass I switched to the ERN which @Billyfergie honed for me early on this journey. Yup, that was the ticket. Nice finish - barely a whisper from the Alum. :happy088:

Tonights shave was a little bit of a breakthrough. This razor had all kinds of problems that needed to be tackled. The blade had a curved spine, and edge that was slightly uneven. Plus it was made of Tungsteel/Tungsten. I overcame the issues. The shave was extremely nice. It was a one pass shave, with minor touchups. It was a one pass shave, because the blade was so sharp, that other passes were not needed.

    Razor- Shumate Tungsteel.

    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Deep Woods
    Brush- Vintage Ocean Boar. Germany

I had My Maiden Shave Today with My Russian 5/8th 1/2 Hollow that arrived yesterday.from the Ukraine..Its Mint Man..Like Brand New..These are the Hardest Most Stubborn Steel SRs I have Ever Honed..Makes Swedish Steel as Soft as a Pussycat..Maybe Twice as Hard..Like a T 34 Tank..I Set the Bevel on the 1 K Naniwa & its Cutting Hanging Hairs before I Even Put it on the Progression..:D

Its One Serious Commie Quality SR...Brass Pins & the Grind is Excellent..It Took a Killer Edge..The Edge Feels as Fine as a Needle..Serious Hard Steel Folks..I Kid You Not..I have Honed a Number of Vintage French SRs that are Harder than Swedish Steel...This Russian Steel is Something Else..This SR hadn't been Honed before..Factory Fresh..This SR will Hold a Killer Edge for a Very Long Time I reckon..;)

This Russian SR Shaves as Well as any Top Shelf Solingen, Sheffield, Swedish or Japanese SR..It has a Surgically Sharp Hair like Edge & Very Smooth & Forgiving all in One Package..My 2nd Pass was Just a Polish...I had One of My Finest SR Shaves Today with this Wee Commie 5/8th...Its a Superb Shaver & a Wee Bit of Cold War History..:happy088:
