Fair warning, some of the Russian blades are great examples of Soviet Engineering. I have one were the steel is about as hard as a beer can. Wouldn't hold an edge through three passes. I also handled one that didn't have a spine, so was difficult to hone.

It's a different maker from the others that you guys have, so I rolled the dice.
Anyone know if there is much of a difference between them?

It's from the same factory as Billy's and mine per the description so same manufacturer so to speak - just a different model. :happy088:

Maybe we should start a tread on Russian straights, and move that discussion off this thread.

Shave 28. Yes, Comrades will be Comrades but leave it to the Germans to restore order. So, I returned to my tried and true Otto Busch for today's shave. I did a little refresh on it and ended up with good reduction on all passes, and one of my better shaves. Still nicking myself here and there and the alum was loud but not shouting. Some really nice face rubbing goodness overall. :happy036:

Tonights shave was a very nice smooth two pass shave, without a problem, with a well used Japanese Frameback. Man, can these things hold a sharp edge. Nice large and heavy, heavy, heavy.

Razor- Vintage Japanese "Bostom 123" Chemical Steel
    Brush- Zenith Boar
    Soap- Stirling Spice
    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy.

    Today's event
I used my JAHENCKLES 81 4/8 full hollow round end 20161005_181413_resized.jpg recent discusion about the width of blade made me touch up my "spotted emporer". I thought (maybe too much) about the size of razor as i shaved. I did notice it was a bit lighter than I have been using. I also noticed that it was quite a bit messier, i had to wipe the lather about twice as much. I normally wipe three or four times in a three pass shave. Otherwise it performed nicely. I didn't feel like I added any more preasure than necessary (because of the blades lightness). I made a pass with am open comb (just cuz) but i really found nothing to cut.
Although the bigger blades look cooler, this one little guy shaved and stropped quite well.
