I bought this razor for $10.00 at this month's antiques fair and made it my first project razor. I had to clean it, tighten the pivot pin, and hone it. It looks like it will have to go back to the hones. I had to do a finish pass with another straight.

Shave 36. Another nice close shave with the Beam. I wasn't thinking it was as good as I remembered until I felt the excellent reduction after the first pass. And the second pass was like I was just wiping off the lather. However, more noise from the alum than I'd like. This is what I will be focusing on for a while - keeping the whisker whacking efficiency while continuing to lighten the pressure and improve the angle. :git:

I also finished my Haslinger's puck so the lather was a little thinner than usual. What a great soap - I figure I got 50 to 60 shaves out of the puck before it gave up the ghost. :happy088:

After lindy's TI, I'm embarrassed to post my offering, but here goes.

Beau Brummel No.35 5/8 full hollow spike. Recently honed on norton1-4-8/apatche strata. Stropped to hair popping on my Drygulch custom strop.

Today's shave gives me much delight. It came in with a sharp edge, but not a nice edge. I redid it more to my liking. It still has a blemmish that leaves a small spot unusable, but its very small and didnt affect the shave adversely. 20161022_122108_resized.jpg
The blemish is at the intersection of the pinaud bottle and the r66 bottle.

Nice smooth no drama shave. I am finding I like the blade spine almost touching my face.

Sorry for the delayed response but I've been on the road for the past two days and just returned tonight. This big blade was touched up lightly on the buffers to remove some surface gunk and light horizontal scratching present on the blade face. Cleaned up beautifully. It was one of the easiest blades to hone I've done in a while. Great shaver!

This shave. Was firing on all cylinders today and was the best straight shave I have ever had. I just took my time and lightened up on the pressure a little. I did three passes for an absolute BBS. I know it worked when my wife came back for a second face feel

I just honed up a Russian razor from 1953. It delivered a very nice 2 pass shave, with 2 weepers, on two days growth. Effortless shave.

    Razor- "EKSTRA".ZTV 1953
    Brush- Vintage German Ocean Boar
    Soap- Stirling Barbershop
    Aftershave- Vintage Avon Deep Woods.

It took me 3 hours to set the bevel and hone. It was worth the time. This is my smoothest hone job yet. Finished with the 12k then took it to 1micron lapping film. 10 laps on that. Then 7 laps on the CrOx finished with 100 on the strop.

Recently honed. It cut my dimple, same spot has been cut about three times. You'd think I'd learn to be careful there.
