What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

Thank you. I was not far from the airport. It was a beautiful day!

 

The Challenge 6/8. A little tugging and not as close as I like. A trip to the barbers hone, pasted strop, linen and leather. We'll see if that smoothes things out for the next shave.

 

todays shave was with my Case temperite and Razo-Rock mudder focker soap and aftershave.

I used my new to me Genco fluid steel. These Genco razors have a nice feel and balance. It was a good shave and I'm glad to have it in the rotation.

This is the smoothest razor I have. I'm loving the shaves.

Tonight's shave was with a wonderfully sharp and smooth razor. I don't know much about the history behind it, other than I got it, had to clean it up a lot, and hone it. It was the first razor that gave me a really nasty deep slice, with that point. Ever since that slice, I've had a paranoid respect for spike tipped razors. Needless to say, it's now in my rotation of favorites. Two pass shave, only one was really needed, and no touch-ups. two tiny weepers, that I didn't know I had, until the shave was over.

Had a fantastic shave this evening. Also my first go with the Illinois Russian strop. I really like the draw on this. Quite different from my other 2.

Very smooth shave on a new to me dubl duck.

 

same straight as yesterday. even the yesterday shave felt smooth i had post shave burn that was unexpected. so looked at the edge trough a loop and as i suspected there was some microchipping. so took the 8k and honed them out before a few strokes on the 12k and then the ZG.checked the edge thru out the honing and there was no more chipping. todays shave was very good,without any postshave burn.checked the edge again after my shave and linnen stropp and there was no chipping

 

Without a doubt.

I had a Super Close Shave this Morning with My Atlas 7/8th..I See a Lot of Near Wedge Custom SRs that Don't Look as Impeccably Ground as this Japanese Production Razor..A Belter of a Chopper with a Laser Like Edge..

Restored Dubl Duck Dwarf 5/8" with a scary spike point...

 

I used my AW Wadsworth this morning. It was a two pass shave and I'm BBS in most spots and a fine DFS in others.

 

Saturday Straights: I had planned just to use the H. Böker 5/8, but I got a new Gold Dollar razor in the mail yesterday, and so I incorporated it into today's shave. It did pretty good. It is a 7/8 stainless with the number 208 on the tang.

The TABAC Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #144 finest badger brush. I did two passes: the first with my new Gold Dollar razor, and the second with the H. Böker 5/8 and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Pinaud Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

Great shave with this morning. This one was a little uncomfortable last shave. Five strokes on the Swaty, half dozen on the pasted strop, and edge is good as new. Those barber hones are really handy to have
