Great shave late last night with the Rodgers. The razor hasn't changed, but my ability use it more effectively certainly has! :) Practice, practice, practice….

One more razor I need to obtain, a Tennis, when I thought I'd reached the end of my razor buys. A Fritz Bracht razor. Is this before Fritz Bracht took over Dovo?

George Wostenholm Celebrated I.XL An ugly duckling it may be, but I've gotten some very good shaves from it.

I got a better shave from it yesterday then I did today. I also need to stop using my iPhone for pictures as it never gets the orientation correct...

Correct. Right around WWII. It was my first straight and to this day, it still gives the best/smoothest shave out of all my razors. Holds a magnificent edge. I actually had to rescale it recently. The original bone white scales cracked at pivot.

Garland "Improved Eagle". No pics this morning, but I'll see what I can do about that...

This was my first ever shave with a straight and so I just did a minimal single pass on either side and finished with a DE, but I can't argue with the results. Lots to learn and I'm in no hurry, but my virginal shave was smoooth, thanks to Glen/gssixgun and his adroit skills. :happy088:

I'm not even sure about the nomenclature yet, but I think the Garland is a 5/8 half hollow grind with a square (or is it spike?) point. Whatever it's called the blade was remarkably comfortable for the short time it was actually on my face. :happy097:

Excellent! Chris, when I started with an SR (coming up on a year, shortly), my first few attempts—maybe the first consecutive 5-7 days of SR shaving— were simple downward cheek strokes on both sides, and finished with a DE razor. Eventually I climbed the mountain and was soon doing the whole face, but still required a DE razor to smooth out the many rough patches. It wasn't until I was maybe 3-4 months in of regular SR use that I shed the DE razor clean-up, and could get by with just a straight. Understand it may not take you THAT long since I was/am working with limited use of my dominant hand whilst learning to SR shave. You also have a considerable advantage in that you are using a professionally-honed razor—which can really make a significant difference between a memorable shaving experience and one less so.

Shumate Barber 5/8 extra hollow. Cleaned this puppy up and it honed up perfectly after one trip to the hones.
