Tonight's shave was with an old Wade & Butcher. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, almost BBS, without touch-ups. No nicks, cuts , or weepers.

Ah, very nice - welcome to the Dark Side. It's just a matter of time and persistence. Congratulations! :eatdrink047:

I hold the razor with two hand to make this S to N pass on my upper lip. I hold the razor on the blade by the pivot and the other hand holds the tip of the razor. I then move my head not my hands to make the pass.

Start with just your cheeks or go how far you are comfortable and then finish with a DE or other razor you are comfortable with, then add more as you gain confidence and skill. My first shaves were filled with blood but I learned.

Still sounds like dangerous move. One slip, and you have a nose full of razor. But, if it works for you, and if you are confident in your skills, go for it.

That is why I move my head and not my hands. I have not cut myself once using this technique, it was scary at first and now it is second nature.

Welcome to the dark side! ASK LOTS OF QUESTIONS! I've been at SR shaving now for a year and almost gave up by shave 30. Now I love it and wish I had time every day for an SR shave. It gets better every shave! Hang in there. Remember that this is how our grandfathers and great grandfathers shaved. Very cool.

I hold the razor like Keith, using the hands. I tried the fools pass after several weeks of straight shaves. I've made it part of my routine after a month or so. I've never (yet) had a cut or nick doing this.

I will. I have done quite a bit of prep. It wasn't super quiet and I wasn't as focused as I should have been. I was having issues with skin stretching with soap and then also because my hair grows 10 different ways all over my face I had to try to do a lot of passes. Tips for that would be awesome.

As far as skin stretching with soap, get an alum block, wet your fingers and rub them on the alum, and it will let you get a better grip on soapy slippery skin.

A beautiful shave with my Suzy Q this morning. Super close finish, minimal noise from the Alum, it all was working. :happy036: I'm been finding myself reaching for the Shavemac more frequently lately. I think it is finally breaking in and becoming a favorite.

After yesterday's ultra close shave; I didn't have much to remove this morning. The Dovo always gives up an excellent shave.
