Tonight's shave was with a trusted Japanese razor. I had a very comfortable and smooth 2 pass shave. BBS results, with only one weeper, on the neck. Don't know how that happened.

    Razor- Japanese "T.F.Hairop 120"
    Brush- Burma Shave Boar
    Soap- Stirling Barbershop
Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. MMMMM MMMM Good.

I lathered the MWF into a nice dense froth and started my first pass WTG. This blade was sharp, nimble and very efficient at reducing a couple of day's growth down to almost smooth skin. That's when things went south. This was my first shave with this razor and I got over confident. I went for an XTG pass and stopped with the blade on my face and immediately realized my mistake which took the form of an 1/2" vertical cut in the middle of my cheek. This was no fault of the razor and 100% issue with my technique. Note to all newbies... keep the blade in motion when it is in contact with your skin. Keep the faith.

Also keep in mind the angle of the blade while making contact; if you get close to 90deg you're bound to draw blood. I speak from experience:)

It is becoming one of my favorite razors. Always a nice shave with this one.

Two pass shave with the Challenge Cutlery 6/8. The epitome of old (man) school scents with Arko and the Veg :)

Tonight's shave was with an oldie, but goodie. I had a 2 pass shave that went very nicely. Smooth and sharp. Near BBS on all areas of the face.

I plan on it. I need more practice with my touch.

Straights are a continual learning curve. We all improve each time we do it. And, it's just so cool...

It was time to use my Charles Adam on this snowy late winter morning. As usual, this razor maintains a wonderful edge and I got a mostly BBS shave in two passes.

This fine example of late 19th century Sheffield razor-making from Harrison Bros & Howson. It belongs to fellow TSD member @ob1page . I love the blade & tang shape, plus the very delicate scales made of ivory. Recently restored.
Soap Commander 'Influence' soap and matching balm, Shave Works silvertip brush. Memorably-smooth shaving experience!

My 1941 Russian from the ZTV factory may be my favorite razor. As I've said before, it has a unique feel to it and seems to just have the right everything - balance, size, reduction, weight, feel... I brought it out again today and was reminded of all the reasons I like it so much. :happy036:

    AOS Lavender PSO
    Haslinger Schafmilch Shave Soap
    Savile Row 3824 Silvertip
    1941 ZTV 5/8

    AOS Lavender After Shave Balm
