Tonight's shave was with my first Straight Razor. Well, the first that counts in over 30 years. I had a great 2 pass shave, that was silky smooth. BBS results.

Great shave with two passes instead of my typical three. I adjusted to a shallower angle, even on the first pass. This mate a huge difference in the quality of the shave; both in comfort and with hair removal. Not sure if this is typical for These old wedges

Vintage Otto Fromm 'Red Head' (1950s), 13/16" full-hollow square point. JNat edge. Spectacular!

 

It was the Faultess again. After giving it a rework from the ground up with a taped spine, new edge and a few light laps in the coticule dry...now we're getting somewhere. It was shaving about a 6/10. Now about a 7/10. I just need to glean a little more out of the blade and I'll be satisfied with it and my developing honing skills.

 

Tonight's shave was with a Pre-Civil War Wade & Butcher 1830-1837. It is a fantastically sharp razor, that gave a BBS 2 pas shave. What can I say, but, I could wish for nothing better from this razor. This was from my "A" List of razors, that I own.

Berkshire Cutlery 5/8 fresh off the hones. A great shaver for the ten spot I had to give for it Another nice American steel shaver. Pretty plain Jane. Lacking jumps, etching and the like. I bought this little fella to go along on my travels in the motor home. A nice smooth three pass shave

 

I love the simplicity of the razor, amazing buy for $10

 

Poor little fella never saw much use, looks as though he spent life locked away in a drawer somewhere

 

I used my Wade and Butcher barbers notch this morning. It was a disappointing shave as I had to do three passes and still had stubble. I thought I had this one right after the last time I had it on the hones, but it was better before the latest honing.

Tonight's shave was with a Japanese blade. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, with very smooth results. No nicks, cuts, or weepers.
