My quiver of straights numbers only three, so it doesn't take long to make the rounds! Boker this morning, a 5/8 Good as Gold half hollow that's aptly named - it's a very smooth shaver even in my inexperienced hands!
Parker 510 This is a hollow ground Japanese razor, but it feels like a large and heavy Sheffield wedge. Very dense steel. I need to rehone, I think.
13/16 Prior Cold River Barbershop Homemade brush with Jagger knot Nice shave this morning. I'm pretty sure this is a pure knot and I really liked the feel of it which surprised me. Have a good one. The knot came as a freebie from the vendor where I buy my boar brushes from. The handle was broken and he said see what you can do with it.
Garland Improved Eagle half hollow 5/8. I'm really very happy with all 3 of the razors I have, but this one has an especially nice feel to it. Have a good 'un everyone!
C-Mon Hand Made freshly honed by Glen (gssixgun) at Gem Star Customs. Applied Cella Soap with Whipped Dog Silver Tip Badger, lather kept warm in Robert Becker Scuttle, Pinaud Clubman After Shave.
My first shave with this newly-restored Tortolani 'Silver Steel.' A very audible shave. Great feel to the edge (an easy hone-job! ) and it made quick work of the day & a 1/2 growth. Here it is pictured before I took it to the stones….
A hunka, hunka burning love...or steel. I'd like to try a 10/8 or large George Britain, but they come around seldom and are very, very expensive.
Toyo frameback Cold River Barbershop homemade boar brush Fine Clean Vetiver and 444 balm Nice shave this morning.
Parker 510 I rehoned on Naniwas and still had a rough edge that wasn't shaving, so I went to my lapping film. I used 30, 15, 12, 9, 5, 3, 1, 0.3 micron progression. That is some hard steel. I did more laps than usual and used the thumb test that Lynn Abrams taught us at the Asheville, NC convention this year. Now the Parker shaves as it should.
