I used several different grits of polishing compound and final polish with blue magic. For the scales, I used turtle wax polishing compound and finished with blue magic.

I forgot how good a shave this French Frame back could provide.

Flic. This is one of my top shavers. Flic is not widely known, but was exported out of Germany by Max Voos of Dovo. A very keen edge that lasts. I highly recommend the Flic, if you can find them. It was too bad I had to replace the scales.

    Yes,it's new. It arrived yesterday.
Having experience with Art Razor, all I did is wipe the grease off, lather up, and shave.
Both of my Art Razors have a slight smile and I'm becoming a big fan of that style of blade. I did a four pass shave this morning and have to say it was a very nice factory edge. I am absolutely smooth with no irritation. The Ogallala was even quiet.
Keith, I look forward to hearing how you like your Art Razor when you get yours.
Kevin, I can send you a link if you want to get one. You are a little light in modern razors;)
    Have fun guys.

    Thanks!

I'm pondering a new modern str8 sometime next year. I think I'll need input on the Modern Razor Gurus; @Keithmax & @mrchick to see what their favorites are :signs002: In a year's time, they should have acquired a number from each producer:)

Beware the Slippery Slope, my friend! :D
I've recently succumbed to the allure of the custom modern razor (arriving today!), but there is a price to pay! :sad027:

    I suggest one of each
I'm really impressed with Art Razor, but have to say that RigaRazor and Portland Razor Company make nice blades as well.

    THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY...

Fellas, it's been a few since I posted in this thread as I've become distracted by DE shaving for the last few months. I know, be nice... :D .

Anyway, back in May of 2015, I commissioned Tim Zowada to make my Dream Straight Razor. I requested pattern welded steel composed of his "Timahagane" steel (made from black iron sand from Whitefish Point on Lake Superior [yup like "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" Whitefish Point...]) and meteorite. I requested fossilized mammoth ivory for scales, and an Irish/French point.

Fast forward to fall of 2016, and my wife is hit with a surprise move for her work from Iowa to Florida. Money got tight, and I was forced to ask Tim to sell the razor when completed so I could use the proceeds to finance a portion of the move and ease the post-move financial struggle. Tim is a fine, fine gentleman, and was quick to help me out of my bind.

Last week the razor was completed, and I have never regretted a decision as much in my life lol. It is quite probably, to my eye, the most beautiful straight I've ever laid eyes on. Tim has been working with master engraver David Ricciardo to learn the engraving ropes, and this is his first custom with engraving done by him.

    Feast your eyes boys...

It's my understanding this beauty now resides in Germany. I'm sure the happy new owner is thrilled with his (my :D ) new straight.

    Gorgeous razor! Lucky new owner.
Timing is everything, my friend, and obviously you have your priorities in proper order. And kudos to Mr. Zowada.

The good news is...there's always another white whale lurking out there.

That is a gorgeous razor. It can be tough doing the right thing, but you have your priorities where they belong.

It should arrive today if the tracking is right, it made it to my local post office last night. I agree my modern razor collections is still missing some key razors.

I would add Koraat to the list. Ulrich is great to work with, produces great razors and works faster than most.

Wow, why didn't you tell us so it could at least stay in then den. Kudos for making the tough decision. Good things come to those who wait.
