It was Russian theme night. After honing this Russian straight, I had to check my work. What an amazingly smooth shaver.

Flick "High Class" The Flic was exported out of Solingen by Max Voos of Dovo. Every bit as good as as a Dovo. I have two Flics and a (modern) Dovo. All are exceptional shavers, basically providing a bbs shave after two passes. My F W Engles is in the same category. I have other great razors, but these Solingen ground razors are my personal favorites.

    Aloha!

Inspired by the Gold Dollar 66 chatter yesterday, here is one just out of the box this morning.
Putting it to the stones 1k, 4k, 8k, then the 12k Naniwa Superstone for finish. I have other progressions that I have used on these GD razors, but this one works just fine. The shoulders on this one were again ground down well enough by the factory so no shoulder grinding necessary on this model.

So I'll shave with the brand new just bevel-set and honed Gold Dollar 66 today. From Box to Beard in 1 hour.

Nice blade, is this one a new acquisition? I don't remember seeing it before.

I've had for around 2 years or so. I don't use it as often as others.

    Aloha!

Your photos always amaze me Mr. C. If you are still traveling, then this is truly a stellar photograph for someone that is on the road. Mine are usually taken from a hotel chair or the hotel bathroom counter. Yours look like you hired-out to a professional photography studio. :happy088:

Next up in the rotation was my Wostenholm "peerless" razor. It was a great shave this morning. I love the ring this blade makes on the strop and the velcro sound that comes off the edge as it mows down my whiskers.

Yes. It is my second custom from this maker. He is pretty new at the game, but is obsessed with quality, and both razors are awesome shavers.

Recently restored Wester Brothers Yankee Wedge. I actually polished the blade far too much for my liking. It looks too new to me now. I normally like to leave patina but I'm using a new polishing compound and it works too well. The blade is picking up reflections in the photo thus the appearance of a patina with a cream tip. That is all reflections. Cream tip is the sink reflecting in the tip of the blade.

Now I have to put new red stain or paint in the "Yankee Wedge" imprint on the scales.

What a PITA this blade was to set a bevel on. But all well worth it.
