What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

Henckels Friodur 8/8

 

Today's shave was with a razor that seems to bit me almost every time I use it. Not today. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me with a near BBs shave. Well built, super sharp razor.

Razor- "Respect 4". Best Silver Steel. Extra Hollow Ground. Germany.
Brush- Omega Boar
Soap- Arko/Sandalwood Scented.
Aftershave- Arctic Blue.

Had a very nice shave with the duck .But its time for a refresh .

 

Wow, I didn’t know they came that big. Is it full hollow? Is there any blade flex?

 

Where did @Kokak and @HolyRollah go? I haven’t seen them posting in a while.

 

It is full hollow but not extra hollow. Not much flex. Stiff, and the weight carries edge very well for a great easy shave. It keeps a great edge, I don't remember touching it up in a long time. Although it is stiff there is a lot of sound feedback.

This morning's SOTD: vintage King Pelican, Soap Commander 'Courage,' custom Jayaruh brush & SC balm to finish. Great shave....

Today's shave was with a Japanese Razor. It was "one of the first" ones I acquired, and it had a lot of issues. It took a while to figure this one out, on the hones, but when I did, it has been one of my top shaving razors. I always enjoy when this one makes its way around, in rotation. 2 passes that were super smooth, that left me with a near BBS shave. I will say, the Japanese have used some of the finest steels, in their straight razors. It might not be pretty, and shiny, but it is one I would have a very hard time parting with.

Razor- Japanese "Cherry 92". Best Steel.
Brush- Omega Boar
Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy Scented.
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy

 

Da comrades, no doubt about it, I’ve said it before and will say it again. If I could only keep one of my razors this would be it.
