The weather has warmed up and I changed out my juice to match the season. I agree the Royal Mayfair is a treat.

Thanks Keith! I really appreciate that. It also has pearl inlay in the scales. This baby holds a fantastic edge and is easy to hone. Of all my razors, this one is the keeper and was the best $20 investment I’ve made.

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #284 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the H. Böker 5/8 Straight Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Aqua Velva Musk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I did get lucky at the flea market that day. My kids say I’m cheap... er, frugal.
    :p
However, I do look with envy when I see some of the gorgeous steel displayed on these pages and I’m quite tempted to step up my game.

I used my Gold Dollar this morning and had a nice three pass shave. I used Stirling bay rum soap and my Ever Ready boar. I topped it off with a splash of Aqua Velva musk.

What a way to start the day!

Nice shave this morning. This soap is very good, especially the post shave feel. Good lather and a little bit goes along way. Have a good one.

Cape 1000 by Tanifuji-San, AdP lathered up with a Simpsons Tulip 3 two-band brush, and finished off with Harris Pink.

There's always been a discussion amoung the Jraz folks about whether Tanifuji made the Cape razors - many sellers describe them as Tanifuji-made. Cape was a house brand of the Nichiri Barber Supply Co, so different models of Capes could be made by by different suppliers I suppose. I've always felt that the Cape Swedish steel razors were Tanifuji-made, they just have the finish and grind you'd expect from Tanifuji, and he made a lot of Swedish steel razors. But there's not much doubt about this one, it has Tanifuji stamps on the obverse side.

    Cheers, Steve

Long week so I wanted a special shave... pulled out the Mastro Livi. This is not his Damascus but a Damascus from a fellow artisan in Italy, Camillo Silvano. Beautiful blade housed in Mammoth ivory.
Paired it with a Semogue SOC Badger/Boar lathering up B&M Reserve Cool.

Today's shave was with China's finest. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me with a DFS, no clean-ups. Zero issues. The Chinese steel sure can hold a super fine edge.

    Razor- Gold Dollar 66
Brush- JR#262, Ebony/Birdseye Maple. Silvertip Badger, by Whipped Dog. Excellent brush.
    Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy scented
    Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

Ine of my top three: Thiers Issard. What’s not to like? Translucent scales, double jimps, etched blade with gold wash and that extra hollow grind, which shaves closer than a bee’s foot in honey.

    C. V. Heljestrand 7/8 Mk 144 full hollow in ivory. A 22mm HMW from Scott Lockwood lathered up AoS lemon tallow in the l'Occitane UFO bowl. Harris Pink did a wonderful finish.
