Very nice shave this morning. Brush is coming along nicely and will go through a complete drying out now. Fair number of black hairs, I like the look it would be interesting to get a real salt and pepper effect (all the black hairs are splitting too). If I get the time I'll attempt another today same loft with a slightly larger hole size. Have a good one.

 

Ok, so I finally was able to get this razor to shave ready. This blade gave me a fit. I was able to set the bevel using 12 mic lapping film, then a barbers hone, and finished it on Sioux Quartzite, joamo sent me. I’d all but given up on this razor before, I just couldn’t get it right. So glad I didn’t, as it gave me a DFS, with two passes.

Couple from the last week or so

 

Tonight's shave was with a "Newish" razor. I had a fine 2 pass shave, that left me near BBS. Zero Issues.

Razor- Dovo Best Quality
Brush- RazoRock 400 with Whipped Dog High Mountain Badger.
Soap- Arko/Avon Spicy
Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman

Last night's shave. Ed Brice 7/8.

The razor gets sharper every time I use it - possibly sharper than an Artists Club. Probably my favourite razor but very unforgiving. You get the angles right and it rewards you with a perfect shave. Get them wrong and you suffer...

 

I have never heard of Ed Brice before. Have long have you owned it? Was it custom?

 

Google Edward Brice Razors. UK custom razor maker. I got lucky - he had it advertised on his site and it was exactly what I was looking for. He takes custom orders. The steel, grind and finish is beautiful.

For the last few months, I've been shaving every two or three days, because of skin irritation with daily shaves. I've noticed that I can get a one pass shave every time now and without nicks. I've spent more time on prepping my skin and using shorter strokes. I still have to do one or two more passes for the chin though. I've always noticed that I get a better shave, if I don't shave daily. I've never understood why, but have read others have the same response.

 

Today's shave was with a German Beauty. I had a perfect 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero Issues, just smooth shaving, without any effort.

Single pass was how I was taught back in my teens and how I shaved for the next 20 years. Its only returning to it now that I've been doing these new fangled multiple pass shaves.
