Nice one. :happy088: I'm going to have to break open some of my other Japanese blade now.

Today I still had the I Coloniali sitting out and you could do a lot worse - in fact, almost everything is worse, lol! So I lathered it up with a Simpsons 57 Best and my ol' reliable user-grade Filly 14 DT squeegeed the whiskers away. A shot of Myrsol Plastic was followed by a dab of IC Rhubarb after drydown.

    Cheers, Steve

I bought a Wade & Butcher celebrated fine India steel razor off eBay and it arrived the other day. The Blade is in great shape but the seller failed to mention the scales were severely warped. They appear to be horn scales but I'm afraid they need to be replaced. Any recommendations on someone to do the job?

Alfredo Gil (Doc226) is good at horn scales. There are folks here that do an excellent job with scales but I'm not as familiar with them being relatively new here. If yours aren't delaminating or bug-bitten they can probably be fixed.

I feel your pain about sellers not disclosing warped scales. Here's an image of the non-disclosed scales on a Grelot Lotus that I recently bought, and black horn replacements Alfredo did for me. I'm not too disturbed about it though, the horn scales are far superior in terms of feel and appearance vs the originals even had they been in good shape.

    Cheers, Steve

Mine are just about as bad as the white/cream scales. I will try to contact Doc226 about replacement scales

I'd rather have someone that knows what their doing do it. Making horn scales is not something I have the tools for......yet!

Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, restored, and honed, American Made razor. I had a very smooth, 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues, from this small razor. It is a solid performer, that's very maneuverable.

    Razor- Lakeside Cutlery Serial#8761
    Brush- Omega Boar 10098
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood
Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. Ship's Flask Decanter.

Had a great shave with the GD66, had to touch up the edge a little. Performed with zero issues with MWF lathered up with the Omega Beech Wood Boar. Went heavy with the menthol pre shave, menthols Nivea sensitive. Nice night to just chill.

Got ahold of doc226, looks like he will help! just got to find out how much it's going to be. He is going to look at saving the original scales if possible, if not make new ones. Thanks Steve and M14shooter.

I guess it's not that bad but it won't close right and is awful to look at. hope these original scales can be straightened out and saved!

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face lathered well with The Brush B-3 by Tom. I did two passes with the Lee Mfg. 5/8 Razor and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Pinaud Clubman Vanilla AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
