Tonight's shave was with a Big Old English Wedge. I had a very smooth 1 pass shave, that left me with a DFS. Zero issues.

Shave #20 on the Fill 14 Doble Temple edge test. No falloff yet, still shaving very well indeed. I sort of wanted to compare a ‘normal’ razor to the hard Swedish Steel Cape 1000 that I tested before (50 good shaves and another 8 less than desirable) and so far there’s little difference, but at shave #20 maybe not much difference should be expected yet. It does seem that the Filly edge is mainaining smoothness a bit better, and this is an effect that I wanted to test for. We all know/assume that hard steel will hold an edge longer than softer steel, but maybe the harder steel doesn’t respond to stropping as well as softer steel, or harder steel needs more stropping to maintain the edge? Both tests are/were done with 35 suede/65 cordovan on a Kanoyama 80000, with an occasional addition of some canvas strokes, about once a week.

Soap was I Coloniali Mango Oil and the brush was a Simpsons Tulip 2. A splash of Thayers Rose Petal finished things up.

    Cheers, Steve

Today's shave was with a "Plated Razor", used in a longevity test. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BBS. Zero issues. The edge is still holding strong. It still passes the HHT down most of the edge. It is exactly like it was when first honed, possibly a little smoother.

    Razor- The Palmer 41. Chicago
    Brush- Wilkinson Sword Boar
    Soap- Arko/Sandalwood scented
Aftershave- Vintage Avon Spicy. Triple Crown Decanter

Is that a new razor? I don't think I have ever seen that one.
