My only straight razor. It is great to use when I hone it right, frustrating when I don't. [IMG][IMG]

Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, restored, and honed razor. I had a very smooth and noisy 2 pass shave, with minor touch-up, around the chin, that left me BBS. Excellent razor.

It is a Geneva Cutlery razor. I haven't looked at the date or any other information. My only complaint is that the blade closes into the left scale.

Very nice brand! I just happened to be honing my friend’s Geneva tonight... fingers crossed for a great shave.

Thanks, Tom. I have difficulty getting it fully shave ready, but I have lapping film and a loupe on the way. I am anxious to add to the collection, but that will be a while.

If the edge has hit the scales, your blade will not shave optimally, and will be damaged, to some extent. . It will need to be looked at and possibly rehoned. Re-center the blade yourself, or send it out, to get it done.

I am definitely considering sending it out. I really want to learn to hone it, but I think it would be best to start from a known correct state.

Finished up my friends last 2 razors and took them for a spin... Geneva Cutlery and a Morley & Sons.

I sort of  talked him into buying this pair with that previous W&B in a lot. Figured a nice tour of the world in 3 razors: England, Germany and the U.S.

He’s a hunter, so I thought the scales on the Morley were perfect. I had a little extra work fixing a frown on the Geneva, but overall I think he will enjoy his new tools.

CVH MK133 6/8, cream was AdP lathered with a Simpsons Keyhole 4. A little AdP balm finished up a nice shave.

    Cheers, Steve

Continuing with the JWest theme of the week. I would almost call this blade a shorty, a little shorter than a normal straight. It is 6/8 and 1/4 hollow.
