What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

6/8 Dovo, cream was J. E. Atkinsons For Gentlemen lathered with a TOBS brush. The ‘For Gentlemen’ cream is the same cream base as I Coloniali Rhubarb Softening cream, both were made for Atkinson by Morris in Parma, Italy. The For Gentlemen is a nice lavender with a touch of menthol, like the I Coloniali soaps and creams.

 

6/8 Hayashi Diamond
Had a super close and smooth shave with this Japanese blade.

 

Nice lines. The angle of the scales work well, with the blade.

 

In April 78 years ago the Nazis were preparing for their invasion of Russia and this razor was being made in the same Russian factory where armaments were being produced in preparation to fight the coming war. Maybe it was the patriotic zeal of the workers but whatever it was they turned out one heck of a razor. Another fine shave Comrades.

I always enjoy seeing that razor.

First shave, from a Newly Acquired, Newly Restored, and Freshly Honed razor. Perfect 2 pass shave, that went smooth as butter. BDBS results. I've not heard of this razor before, but I wouldn't hesitate buying another.

Some Japanese steel today, Takehana Feon 172

 

Geneva Pyramid 7, 6/8 This is a pre merger Geneva. The merger was circa '34 if I remember. There was also a 5/8 version.

 

Yesterday’s shave, Cape 1000 Swedish Steel in lava Kirinite scales, cream was SMN lathered with a Simpsons 57. A splash of Myrsol AB finished up

Today’s shave, one of the usual suspects, a Filly 14 with ABC cream lathered with a Keyhole 4. AS was a double-header today, a splash of Harris Pink followed by ABC almond balm after dry down.
