I don't think the bloom on my Rooney approaches yours, Steve. Still impressive.

Kind of a funday Sunday, Herder 49, soap was RazoRock Santa Maria del Fiore lathered with a M&F two-band L7 and a little Harris Pink finished up a nice shave.

Here’s a mini-review of the SMdF vs the real thing, SMN. TL;DR it’s a solid $20/250ml soap, but SMN it isn’t. Other than the scent which is very nice if you like the tobacco scents, it’s just a regular ordinary soap. Kudos to Joe though, he does offer some unique soaps at decent prices.

Scent: not SMN, but very pleasant and it does remind you of SMN. It’s lighter, and less camphor.
Lathering: it’s not as concentrated as SMN by a good bit, so you need to load more which knocks some of the glitter off that low price. If you under load, the lather tends to dissipate, though it’s otherwise pretty decent.
Slickness: not as slick, but it’s decent, an ordinary slickness. If you want cheap slick, Pre de Provence spanks it handily.
Cushion: I’m not a DE shaver, but the lather is thinner than SMN so I’d expect less cushion. Not a problem for straights.
Post shave: not bad, but nowhere near SMN either.
Residue: check, we got residue. It doesn’t wipe off easily with a cloth towel. I used a little MdC to clean the brush afterwards. The real deal SMN is a clean soap.

I’d likely not re-buy it, I’d rather put the funds toward the real deal.

That is a cool looking razor, is it new?

I am also a big Eau Sauvage fan!

Someday...... It definitely on my bucket list. Does it live up to it's reputation?

Dovo Masters. I was in Tokyo for the weekend and I did not buy a razor but I did pick up two sharp carbon steel items.

Hail to the King, baby! Apologies to Bruce Campbell (and Duke Nukem). KIng Pelican 14, Original MdC was lathered with a M&F L7, and a little Myrsol finished up, along with a spritz of MdC lavender water.
