3 razors that I honed up last night,
    1st Thiers Issard,
    2ns Reynolds
    3rd Eyre & co.

A slightly larger bevel on the TI than I like and that was with 2 layers of tape! (I just dont like going over 2 layers, Im not that happy with using 2 layers of tape)
All finished on a Nakayama Kiita Tomae

This One Wasn't Buffed its the Result of One Careless Hone Job by the looks of it..This Razor has Never Been Used believe it or Not..It was a 1st Attempt by Someone to Hone it..Its One Serious Cockup of a Hone Job..:shocked003:

I think so. So, you can fully exploit your enabler skills. Maybe there should be a "Jedi Enabler Club". :happy088:

Just Finished these 2 SRs for a Forum Member...Elsine Solingen 7/8th & John Ledger Sheffield Near Wedge 6/8th..The Top Pic is How I Got the Near Wedge..I Had to Re Jig the Whole Edge from Heel to Toe & Farfe about with Loads of Tape..A Wee Challenge to Set the Bevel..It Took a Killer Edge..Wicked Man..Eventually..:happy097:

    The Elsine Solingen 7/8th was a Doddle..Honed On a Naniwa Super Stone Progression..1 K, 3 K, 5 K, 8 K, 12 K..1 Micron Film & 0.5 Micron Film as My Finishing Hone..10 Laps on 0.2 Red Rhodium & 100 Lashes on Leather..

The 1 Micron Film on Glass Refines the Edge form the 12 K Stone to another Lever for Me..The 0.5 Film albeit a Different Media is the Equivalent to a 20 K Stone..The Chro/Ox Film on Glass is Flatter than Flat & Level..Amazing Finisher & Compliment's the Naniwa Superstores in My Books..I Wouldn't Mind a 20 K Gokumyo Stone but the Film is as Cheap as Chips and a Fantastic High Grit Smooth Finisher..Maybe Some Day..:D

This little razor was given to me by a friend. It has been well used. Quite a bit of wear on the spine. Luckily it had been honed properly. Very even wear over the blade.

It took 3 layers of 7 mil tape. I used my Naniwa stones. Then finished it off with some laps on 1 micron.

I will give it a shave tomorrow.

It's been a couple of weeks since I've honed anything, because of a million things going on around here. I walk by the hones, just sitting out, and try to think about when I will be able to set them up again. Also, my pile of blades needing work is piling up. As soon as Christmas is over, I'm going to devote attention to some needy blades. I miss the alone time I get while honing. :(

I find it (honing) therapeutic. Quiet, focused time.
I have a dozen or so blades in need of either complete bevel-set or touch-up but probably can do two, maybe three razors max at one sitting.
Beyond that, the repetition wreaks havoc with my carpel tunnel (numbness, tingling in thumb and wrist). So I have to plan my attack versus spontaneous honing. :D

these was bought as NOS and i only did a refresh of the factory bevel.but now there was some micro chipping at both edges.since i always use tape i reset the bevels and did a full progression. finished on the purple welsh slate. the filarmonica is very smooth and nice, but the tornblom was not as nice as i like it,so took that back to the 12k and finished on the black ark.seems like tornblom likes the ark stone better.much better, smooth and nice:)

I set the Bevel on this Dovo today. In looking at it, it didn't appear to have been honed before, the bevel just was almost nonexistent. It took a fast edge, on the progression. The blade was very straight, and there were no issues at all. I'm not use to that. In the end, it was popping hairs, down the entire length of the blade.

This J.A.Henckels needed a little touchup, on the heel, so it just needed a little stone work. It was a rusty mess when I bought it. That point is as scary as it looks, and sharp. I will be very cautious with this one. In the future, I would like to rescale this blade. I just need to learn how to do it.

Aye..SRs that Haven't been Honed before or Never Used Hone Up like a Dream Usually..I Reckon that Most of the Joe Blogs on the Street in the Auld Days Gone By Never had Great Honing Skills or Great Honing Media either..They Just Did the Best they Could to Get By...That is Pretty Obvious I Reckon when You Hone a Lot of Vintage SRs that Usually Need Hone Wear Related Work & Requiring the Heel Pulled in..Etc..Most have Never Seen a Decent Hone Job..:D

To Me..There Hasn't Been a Better Time to Hone SRs with All these Current State of the Art.Synthetic Progression Systems Available Today & Other Media & All the Guidance We Can All Get Access to on Forums & YouTube ..:angelic007:
