What Straight Razor Have You Honed Lately????

They’re becoming one of my favorite straight razor.

 

Latest object a CVH No. 4 polished and honed with the following stones:
Satake 1200 grit
Böker 3000+8000 grit
Satake 10000 grit
Polished with Dremel and cloth wheel

6/8+ (7/8 to the top of the spine) guilloche spine Thiers Issard Bijou de France. I tried the factory edge once before, but I can do better. The bevel was set on a Shapton 4k Glass HR, followed by Shapton 6k HC and jnat. Shave tomorrow!

Took the latest project, the Ran-tan-Ka-rus, along with a Herder 76 to the stones.

Suehiro 1k, followed with the Naniwa 4/8/12k (12k pictured), and lightly finished on a small piece of Suehiro Gokumyo 20k.

This sharpening is a hymn to the Friends.
The razor is a perky old one of a friend.
A friend lent me the synthetic stones.
A friend invented the sharpening technique (Double Sharpening).
The channel where I studied it belongs to a friend.
Whoever finds a friend finds a treasure

What stones did you use to hone this razor?? How did the edge turn out?

I have several older Dalstrong whetstone from my hunting days. 1000, 3000, and 8000 grit.
I picked up two slightly used stones. Lapped them and they work great.
Kuromaku 12000 and a Shapton 15000 grit.

The edge is, as the term goes, razor sharp. Clean and from what I can see even. I will be using it today so, it will be the test to see how well it works.

So here is the review of the Leader.

Beyond razor sharp. Wow it’s sharp.

Great for lip and chin. Easy to control for under nose and lips and chin.

But too light weight, physically, for face and neck. So, it will make a great detail razor.

 

The other day was smooth, but not keen.
Today is keen, but not smooth.
Let's see tomorrow ...
