Same as above, but it went through the progression easily. I finished on an Eschers Thuringian. Fantastic blade quality, and it takes a very sharp edge.

    Made in the Ukraine
    8/8 Full Hollow
    Stabilized Burly Maple

Rarely will I buy a Newly Manufactured razor, but I had a hard time passing on this, for the price.
The previous owner had the razor honed, or he did it himself. Too much pressure, with this large blade, made for a large bevel. I decided the edge wasn't to my liking, and took it back to ground zero.
It went through the 1k with ease, and surprise, the bevel wasn't large, after all. It went through the progressions fast, and without issues. It was finished on the Eschers Thuringian. Wickedly sharp.

I have a Shumate with the same steel, Scott, and agree, it takes a while to hone. My razor isn’t in as good a shape as yours.

I finished the edge repair, near the toe, quite minor on my new-to-me Edv. Neistrom #52. Sorry for the poor image, bit the blade now passes the styrofoam peanut test.

A Klas Engström? That’s really a rare one Hans! I had to say something because I’ve done the same thing. :eatdrink047:

Yes Steve, normally the Klas out there are quite narrow blades.

That was one of the main reasons I bought that razor. Not very common.

Touching up a 7/8 TI Basic Black on the chocolate kiita, trying out a new tomo nagura with it. A Shapton Glass HC 8k preceeded the finisher.

So the nice old W&B is up for an edge. The first thing that I did was measure the bevel angle, and it was 14.7 degrees, so it would likely have had very wide bevels (like the original bevels) and possibly not hold the edge. I ended up using 2 layers of electrical tape and one layer of 1 mil Kapton. I re-measured with the tape in place and got 16.7 degrees and decided to go with that.

Very pleasant honing, the bevels cleaned up and straightened out with a Shapton HR 1k, which was followed by a HR 3k and a HC 8k. The final finisher was my ‘chocolate kiita’. The old lady took a fine edge!

Steve took care of the old W&B, and I had the opportunity to work on a few “newer” models. :)

The first was this interesting french point W&B. It had some serious chips, 2-3 bevel widths in size, so started on a Shapton 220 for surgery. Then transitioned to the Suehiro 1k, then 6k, and finished on my newest Coticule.

After that ordeal, I needed something easy, and this pair delivered. 2 of a 3 razor set that I got to start at the 6k :), and then an easy transition to the Coticule.

Sunday and Wednesday are done, and I used Sunday… very nice. I am liking the edge delivered by this Coti.
    Happy honing.
