My 1956 and 1961 took the same trip earlier today. Totally different feel from the others I did earlier this week. I am looking forward to using them this week. :happy036:

Scott..They Hone the Same as an SR..Use One Layer of Tape with Wings at the Side to Flip it Over on the Hone..That Keeps the Bevel Compatible with the Rolls System..I Use 0.2 Red Rhodium Paste on the Leather Pad..Rolls Used this as Well..:)

You Wont Find a Better Ground Hollow Ground Blade than a Rolls Blade..They are Ground to Perfection So they Hone Up Like a Dream..:kar:

I'll have to dig into one of my boxes of unused razor stuff, and pull one out.

"Philadelphia Works Celebrated American Razor" "Set Ready For Use, And Universally Approved". It's old, and it's heavy. I like it. Approx 1/4 Wedge.
Odd Name I think. Anyway, I did my usual Progression, after a little repair work. 1k King, 3k/8k??, 8k 12k 15k Welsh Slate Stones, SB Arkie 660/1000 grit lapped. This razor was smiling at me, a little, so some honing gymnastics were needed. In the end, this razor took a Baby fine HHT all the way down the edge. This is one wickedly sharp razor. Not much to look at, but it should be a shaving beast.
Before: Completely Split and broken scales.

After, and a little touchup. Very deep pitting on the blade.

I got a little mad cause the Faultless razor I've been practicing on never past the HHT. And the shaves were like 6/10. So I tapped the spine on the old fella, killed the edge and established it from ground zero up. Finished on plain water on the Coti. Still didn't past HHT. Stropped. Still didn't. I got fed up and looked on the forum about dry honing for giggles. Read through one thread on it. Thought, what the hell? I'll give it a try. Very light strokes on a now dried coti about 10-15 strokes. Gave it a shot and the popping commenced! Stropped and even better popping! Now to see if I improved the edge on this stubborn piece of steel tomorrow morning.

Last night I did two touch ups and one full honing.

I touched up a Koraat and PRC Chimera on my Zulu Grey. I have new Revisor that was not shave ready and my first attempt at touching it up failed. Finally after two layers of tape the Revisor is good to go. The progression was Naniwa SS 1k, 5k, 8k, 12k then Shapton glass 16k. I finished all razors on CrOx.

The first shave for the Revisor was good with a smooth edge but just a 'hair' less sharp than I normal get from the Shapton. Still it was a good shave.

I honed a couple tonight. First one is a Berkshire Cutlery 5/8. A really nice clean little classic razor. The blade looks virtually untouched and the scales unscratched. For $10.50 to my door; I just couldn't pass it up:). Honed up pretty nice from bevel set in the 1k all they way through an Arkie finish.

The Flic 6/8 really only needed a touch up fro the re-scale work, just to make sure everything was in order. Started with the Norton 4/8 and finished up with the Arkie (after 1micron lf). This is one blade that really takes a keen smooth edge.
