I bought my first de razor - Merkur 33c - from AOS in a local mall. I was glad to be able to hold the thing in my hand. It was also before I found any forums, so I did not realize how big their markup is.
I can't remember what the first safety razor I purchased was, but I do recall getting it at Caldor's department store.
A Gillette Techmatic, when I was in high school - probably in 1973. I recently picked one up for my collection - just for old times' sake.
Maggard MR6 (awesome razor, still in my rotation), then Weishi 9306D (great travel razor), then found the world of vintage razors online. My first Gillette was a Flare Tip SS. Now have a dozen or so Gillettes (Fatboy, Slim, Aristacrat, Black Beauty, Tech, etc) and a few Gems (including two NOS). Modern whisker weapons include the Parker 99R and the incredible Merkur Progressive.
My first razor was probably a Bic single edge disposable probably back in 1993. My first (and so far only...so far) DE is a 1959 Super Speed that I purchased at the beginning of this month.
Social Studies, Reading, and Special Ed. I find the female perspective on shaving interesting. My wife complains about the cost of her razor cartridges. Sounds all to familiar, especially around here.
The first razor I ever owned was a Schick Injector Razor that I got for free from a Radio Station in Salt Lake City, Utah. The next razor I owned and still have was or I should say a 1967 M-3 Gillette Knack TTO/DE {issued to me in Boot Camp}.
