Afternoon out on the quaint little island town of Alameda…plenty of nice shops and small eateries; great historic homes…. We had dinner at a nice little German restaurant called, 'Speisekammer' ('Food or spice pantry') Terrific variety of German beers on tap and plenty of good traditional German dishes on the menu. Since my wife eats gluten-free, we settled a variety of appetizers and some mugs of outstanding beer. Quite a spread of tasty Teutonic treats! Hanging out at some euro-trash wine bar downtown waiting for my date to arrive. I got here 45 mins early so I am on a mission to try out their beer selection as well (love wine bars that also serve wine to lesser cultured people such as myself) Dinner will just be the cold cut platter they have here which I remember being pretty good. Very German.
Yet another reason to like this place. It's oddly lit indeed - only candles and exposed brick walls. Odd accents can be heard coming from every booth and well worn-in leather couch. If you know the bartender the first drink is always free.
I'm eating at a fish & chip shop aptly named "The Fish and Chip Shop" It's a Whovian themed British style restaurant, complete with surly staff, long wait times and amazing food. Pics later.
