Buffalo Trace on the rocks. I'm intentionally trying some "table whiskeys"...defined as versatile and under $25. So far I've tried this, Evan Williams Bonded, and Elijah Craig 12 year old. I've been pleased with all of them.
New Belgium Trippel. I enjoy Belgian style beers but they're not all that popular and therefore prevalent around here.
Is that a purple beer? I know ale isn't really beer but its close enough for me. Is that really that purple?
Ale isn't beer? Never heard that before. There are two types of yeast used in beer making ale and lager. Stouts, porters, pilsners, ales, etc use ale yeast. Lagers and steam beers use lager yeast. Anyway....the purple is just a trick of the light (maybe from the color of the label). It's a more of a red ale/winter ale.
Don't know I've had people complain when I called ale beer before. I just wanted to head it off before hand just in case. Its all beer to me.
Alrighty then. So which is a saison then? That's what I like. IPAs are all the rage around here and judging by this new bit of information, I'm guessing them to be a lager?
I've seen at least one beer rating site indicate that a stout is lager-type, rather than the porter, which is an ale-type.
Almost all of it tastes good. I don't like IPA and I tried an ale that tasted like sardines once that was gross but it was in a beautiful bottle.
I'll inform the owner of the local craft beer store that he's mislabeling things and giving bad advice to all his customers.
