I've read that a swirl in rubbing alcohol would address both of those issues.

After shaving I remove the blade from the razor and dry the razor and blade. Then I hand strop the blade before replacing it in the razor.

:signs011: This is advice that I follow. Now I can go several weeks between DE shaves, so you can bet I don't leave a blade inside the razor. When I was a daily DE shaver, I'd still remove the blade so it can dry thorough, as well as the razor head.
Overkill? maybe. OCD? Hardly...I just like to start fresh each time with clean equipment. The same approach I apply to the tools in my workshop. And no......I don't shave in my workshop....:D

Perhaps. When I buy rubbing alcohol the best I can find is 90% alcohol-10% water. So, I am not sure that would actually help because you still have the water in there. But, it might dry faster, which I believe is the key. Also the alcohol will kill germs - always a plus.

I always rinse thoroughly in hot water, give it a good shake and then swish it around in some alcohol. I haven't had a razor rust yet.

DE razors can require some work by the user to ensure a clean dry razor head and blade every time. Sometimes a simple swirl in alcohol will suffice quite nicely..no rust...no mess. Hang & dry.
Allow me to state that the care and maintenance of a DE razor, in comparison to that of a straight razor, is a piece of cake... ;)
If a blade dulls on a DE, switch it out & put in a new one. No honing nor stropping required.
SR blades—especially those of carbon steel, tend to spot, stain and corrode around water.

I may never know, because I just can't seem to bring myself to the point of trying a straight. I don't possess very steady hands and see my first shave with a straight ending in a blood bath.

I like to keep mine in my back pocket just in case I find that I missed a spot.

I have a stand that allows me to hang my razor and brush...I like it a lot!

I think you can get away with doing this, especially if you use a blade only a few times. It's more convenient than taking the blade out every time.

My bathroom sink water gets piping hot, so even that is enough for me most of the time.

After use, my razor is rinsed and wiped clean& dry with a towel. I let it air dry for a few hours, then put it back with the others. [IMG]

Sadly I have 6 of my higher end razors in stands and the rest are piled up on a shelf.

I sit mine on a towel after shaving to let it dry, then put it into a wooden brush and razor stand that a family friend made for me.

My daily shaver goes in a holder next to the sink. The rest live here, away from the bathroom and moisture:
