Which Movies had scenes where Actors used straight/safety razors ?

The Dark Half: Stark uses a str8 quite often...just not for shaving! I like the scene where Stark deftly lops off the editors ponytail in the hallway!

Not a movie, but;

I'm currently reading Roger Moore's autobiography "My name is my Bond" and he tell a story about his father having a Rolls Razor.

 

That was in 1944 and the ACTUAL Winters told the story to Tom Hanks courtesy of HBO. Quite an interesting tale. The Ardennes Forest was where the allies were defending against the Germans crossing. Quite a bloody battle.

 

Did anyone put The Color Purple yet? There is a scene where Whoopi Goldberg sharpens the blade on a strap of leather and is shaving Danny Glover with a straight razor and contemplating slicing his throat. Pretty intense scene.

 

That was a great book! The movie did not do it justice.

 

In Star Trek:Insurrection Deanna Troi "shaves" Will Riker with a straight while they are both in the bathtub.

 

Just watched Point of Fear on On Demand. Stars Cotton and Wells from 1942. He hands back a loaned razor in a case and compliments the razor. It was a straight. I wonder if guys actually did carry razors around with them on trips?

 

SLEEPER with Woody Allen. There's a scene where he's shaving with a straight.

 

Most recently...

"Valkyrie" with Tom Cruise... there is a part in there where he is shaving with a DE and cuts himself on purpose... I won't go any further...

It just opened and it is based on a true story about an attempt to assassinate Adolph Hitler. Terrific movie if you are a WWII fan...

This isn't a movie but recently I started watching the new Battlestar Galactica series on DVD from Netflix. In the very first episode commander Adama shaves a DE at his sink. Very quick scene but interesting they chose to use a DE as a prop in a futuristic sci fi show. Pretty cool in my book. DE's making their way to the stars and beyond!

 

"First Blood" There is a scene where they attempt to dry shave Rambo with a straight and then he has flashbacks of getting cut up by a knife while being held captive in nam.

 

There is a scene in The World's Fastest Indian,where Anthony Hopkins shaves with a d/e next to his car in the desert.

 

A more recent movie; "Valkyrie", with Tom Cruise shows him using a DE razor with which to shave. It plays a prominent part in the movie which is excellent by the way...

Blazing Saddles - I'm fairly certain there's a scene with Gene Wilder shaving while talking with Sheriff Bart.

 

I don't know if this has been said, but in "The Natural" there is a scene where Wilford Brimley and Richard Farnsworth shave with a DE and a straight.

In the new remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still" there is a scene where a young boy has gone and scavenged the effects from his late father who died - one of them is his father's shave brush!

I was going to mention the scene in Valkyrie, but a couple guys beat me to the punch.

nuremberg (movie) - goering shaving w/ a straight

maverick - james garner shaving w/ a straight in the tub.

the funeral - christopher walken is shaving with a DE in what looks like XTG strokes with the "water pass".
