Sweeny Todd? I have a blend with rich notes of Sicilian Blood Orange I'm "dying" (pun intended) to name Sweeney Todd ha! Too negative or morose? Or do you see the humor? Inquiring mind wants to know!
it's out there….Would i buy it? If I knew the soap to be a good performer I wouldn't let the name inhibit my purchase. http://ajmurrays.com/product/shaving-soap-sweeney-todd/
If you want to stick to a similar theme but different character you can always go with ... ...Mack the Knife!
Just be a little more generic and call it cutthroat shaving soap. If people will buy Yeti Snot, I'm sure they'd buy that.
I never noticed before, but after shaving Dexter has quite a bit of stubble left at the end of the sequence. Perhaps he should switch to traditional wet shaving for better results!
I tend not to buy products that have references to books, movies, etc. So, no I wouldn't buy it. While it can be clever, it also seems gimmicky and I think that's the turn off for me. There's nothing wrong with a good product that has an original name though.
Names don't always have to be unique either. I have no problem with owning half a dozen soaps all names Fougere. Using movie/book/pop-culture references doesn't really do it for me with soaps. As Shaverman says, it can seem gimmicky. I prefer soap names that suggest the soap will still be around 50 years from now. I want to feel like the soap has a proven track record and that if I like it the soap will still be around 2 or 10 years from now when I look to buy replacement pucks. Think of the big scent names that have enjoyed success over decades - right away I think of soaps like Arlington, Tabac, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Bay Rum, and Irish Tweed. Obviously, Tabac is original and Irish Tweed is not, but they are both solid names that don't rely on referencing pop-culture to spur sales. But, that being said, quirky names might entice others. I can only speak for myself.
Well ...as long as the soap kills it (get it) in terms of the phone and I'm not really bothered about the name. I do think the name is a bit gimmicky. BUT having said that, not only are we talking about this soap, but dedicating a thread to it. Simply because of the name. Good marketing by the soap maker Has anyone even tried this soap.
