1. What exactly would that accomplish? Would it have to be extended a further 2 minutes if the new high bid gets topped within that additional 2 minutes, and so on?
  2. I do not like snipers. There are some on this site. I dont go to ebay for much anymore.
  3. I don't either. Actually, I have yet to purchase any shave related things off ebay. I'm having fairly good luck locally with Craigslist and antique stores.
  4. I guess some of us just have a different feel on what is right and wrong. That is just not the way i was raised. If I snipped like that I would not feel right about it. And do not like the people that would do that to me for the most part.<there are some exceptions that rule here at TSD>

  5. I used to to sit and wait at my computer and put the my bid in as late as possible, but I got tired of my computer taking too long to load or ebay asking me to sign back in and I was losing w/o my bid going in, so I now use a free program. I still watch the items at the last seconds, but now I know my bid will make it through, except for the rare occasion when the snipe program messes up.
  6. I still think it is easier to do the following.....

Lets say you are watching an auction. It is the final 2 minutes!! There have been 13 bidders going back and forth, and the auction is now up to $85!!

I will place a bid of $200, and like I said before, sometimes I will click an extra 0 and make it $2000. Someone better REALLY want to win if they outbid me.

But, I rarely do ebay. Why fool with it when I know every antique dealer within 100 miles of me?
  7. I think that's what it boils down to.

I'm still curious what exactly it is you consider a snipe though

This is what it sounds like to me:
Antisniper: "I don't like others sniping because it doesn't give me a chance to outbid the sniper"
Sniper: "Then why don't you snipe as well?"
Antisniper: "Because I don't like it done to me"
Sniper: "So you are blaming the sniper for your own unwillingness to snipe?"
    Antisniper: "It just isn't right"

This is certainly an interesting eBay rant!

    Hmm...

This reminds me of my morning commute to work. There is a two lane stretch of road where one lane gradually ends, and everybody knows it every morning. And yet every morning, about 80% of traffic merges early and gets in the long, slow line while 20% of the traffic speeds down the ending lane trying to jockey for a better position. They break no law, but they irritate the heck out of a lot of drivers who chose to wait in the long line. Is there a right or a wrong or is it just everyone choosing to do what they think is best for them?
  8. The right thing to do is merge early so that all flows smooth. The ones that run up, and then force there way in slow things down. Where as if every one would merge early there would not be as much of a bottle neck effect. I would guess that you see yourself as a type A driver and run to the front to get a better position there by slowing down others who choose to do the right thing,:D

  9. Just to add to this lovely discussion.
  10. I know I know.. but I joust windmills all the time.. Every now and then there really is a Giant.

  11. Not sure what type A driver is! I never leave so late for work that I would feel hurried in traffic though, so I have no problem weighing the situation and choosing the best route. It seems to work best if everyone does not try to merge in at a single point but spread it out across the entire merging area.

I used to deliver pizza, and there is a half mile long two lane bridge that merged into one lane at the end of the bridge. So for a half mile, nobody can enter and nobody can exit. But even so, for some reason everyone would back up to the one lane early and extend the line way longer than it needed to be. Well I thought having the little delivery sign on my car would keep anyone from road rage but boy was I wrong. In fact, a semi saw me coming up behind and decided to take up both lanes so that nobody could get by. What do they call it - vigilante justice? :happy102

Maybe we need some ebay vigilantes who will place extraordinarily high bids and then retract them, leaving the sniper with a much higher tab than he or she originally thought he or she would have to pay :D

  12. Now THAT right there is Funny as all get out.... I like it.

  13. You know, this thread has made me see the error of my ways. I am going to quit my job tomorrow so I can sit at my computer 24/7 and "work" the auctions and win them honestly because I don't want to go to Hell for performing sinful snipes.
  14. ok that last was just rude... sorry dude but it is

  15. At least you guys are not buying up all the razors from ebay and selling them for 3X as much somewhere else like that dude on B&B. He is just terrible about that. The one whose avatar looks like Professor X from the X-Men. WTF!?!?!
  16. and all his posts are in the sale threads with the exception of a couple in the safety razor section asking question to get info on the razors so he can sell them. I got pissed at him when he asked for a buy it now on a foreign ebay for a razor I was watching and he got it for $50 and sold it for $250 at B&B.
  17. Erwin must have connections though. How many times has the issue come up and nobody does anything? He waits a few days and starts back up. Rolls....that is probably a picture of him also.
  18. wait...somebody actually paid $250?
  19. Yea, it was a very nice case brit #15 I believe and I am a little surprised it sold so quickly.
  20. Yep, and the buyer was happy as hell! Even know how much Erwin paid for it:confused: I do admit that the guy does have quite a bit of $$$ and deals with hi end stuff anyways. He offered some obscene amount for some Coates. Great guy though!

Re selling back on ebay is one thing.....but your own shaving forum?sick! Scott show the original purchase and the new asking price....funny as hell! They do anything? Of course not:eek:
